Eagle Plains Resources and Sun Summit Minerals Commence Fieldwork at the Orbit JV Project, Toodoggone Mining District, BC

Sun Summit Minerals Corp. (SMN) and Eagle Plains Resources Ltd. have mobilized crews to begin 2026 fieldwork at the Orbit copper-gold project in British Columbia, with the primary objective of expanding the newly discovered Calypso Zone. The initiative follows the terms of a definitive Joint Venture agreement, under which Eagle Plains serves as the operator with an initial ownership split of 49% for Eagle Plains and 51% for Sun Summit. A definitive Joint Venture agreement is expected to be finalized by December 31, 2026.
The 2026 program aims to better define and expand the Calypso Zone, which features copper mineralization over a 300m area within silica-sericite altered intrusive rocks. Activities will include prospecting, geological mapping, geochemical sampling, property-wide silt sampling on first and second order streams, rock sampling of the Calypso Zone, reconnaissance of remote-sensing anomalies, and soil sampling down-ridge. The program is managed by TerraLogic Exploration Inc.
This fieldwork follows the 2025 greenfields discovery of the Calypso Zone, marking the first known recorded exploration on the property. The project area straddles the Quesnellia and Stikinia terranes and is underlain by Early Jurassic granodioritic rocks of the Pitman Batholith. The property is considered unexplored, with no documented Assessment Reports or MinFile occurrences, and the closest known occurrence is located 8 km away.
Rock grab sample results from the 2025 discovery included the following: * JBOIR011: Up to 3.80 g/t Au, 130 g/t Ag. * THOIR009: 1.37 g/t Au, 0.48% Cu, 26.9 g/t Ag. * THOIR009 (second sample listed): 0.78 g/t Au, 0.96% Cu, 10.3 g/t Ag.
Regarding the absence of prior activity, management stated, "Management believes that the absence of historical exploration may be due, in part, to a lack of geophysical and geochemical anomalies."
In a separate development, American Eagle Gold Corp. (TSXV:AE) has received conditional TSX Venture Exchange approval for an option agreement to earn up to an 80% interest in the Hearne Hill South project. The first option, granting a 60% interest, requires a cash payment of CA$400,000, the issuance of 1,200,000 common shares to Eagle Plains, and exploration expenditures of CA$4,850,000 over a six-year term. The second option allows for an additional 20% to reach an 80% total interest for a cash payment of CA$1,000,000, half of which may be paid in American Eagle shares valued at the 10-day volume-weighted average price.
The agreement includes a 2% smelter returns royalty granted to Eagle Plains, with 1% potentially repurchasable for CA$2,500,000. American Eagle will serve as the operator for the Hearne Hill South project, with TerraLogic Exploration Inc. acting as the geoscience consultant. Additionally, American Eagle will reimburse Eagle Plains for the 2026 field program at Hearne Hill South.
