Sun Summit Drills 23.5 Meters of 4.35 g/t Gold Including 4.50 Meters of 21.8 g/t Gold at the JD Project; Extends Creek Zone Mineralization 100 Meters Along Strike
Sun Summit reports strong creek step-out grades that trail the 2025 anchor, with 42 holes still pending.

Sun Summit Minerals Corp. (SMN) released assay results for the first 13 of 55 holes drilled at the Creek Zone of its JD Project in the Toodoggone District, BC. This initial batch represents 5,017 meters of a planned 2026 program exceeding 16,000 meters. Assays for 42 additional holes—comprising 8 from the Creek zone, 19 from Finn, and 15 from Schmitt—remain pending.
Four of the 13 reported holes are characterized as northwest step-outs, extending the modeled Creek structural corridor approximately 100 meters along strike beyond 2025 drilling. The zone is described as open to the northwest.
Key reported intercepts, based on downhole core lengths with a 0.10 g/t Au cutoff, up to 3.0 meters of internal dilution, and uncut length-weighted averages, include:
- CZ-26-023: 23.5 m @ 4.35 g/t Au, 4.69 g/t Ag from 109.0 m, including 4.50 m @ 21.8 g/t Au, 20.18 g/t Ag, including 1.5 m @ 62.90 g/t Au, 46.6 g/t Ag.
- CZ-26-032: 32.5 m @ 3.02 g/t Au, 2.53 g/t Ag from 139.0 m, including 7.57 m @ 12.15 g/t Au, 9.24 g/t Ag, including 0.55 m @ 90.60 g/t Au, 15.45 g/t Ag; plus a separate upper interval of 63.8 m @ 0.48 g/t Au (including 32.0 m @ 0.81 g/t Au from 48.5 m).
- CZ-26-031: 26.6 m @ 3.23 g/t Au, 11.62 g/t Ag from 138.3 m, including 0.80 m @ 23.50 g/t Au, 173 g/t Ag, including 2.17 m @ 10.58 g/t Au.
- CZ-26-029: 24.0 m @ 1.81 g/t Au, 2.55 g/t Ag from 126.0 m, including 0.96 m @ 39.30 g/t Au, 52.20 g/t Ag.
- CZ-26-028: 14.5 m @ 1.47 g/t Au, 9.1 g/t Ag, including 4.5 m @ 4.21 g/t Au, 25.4 g/t Ag.
The remaining nine holes (022, 024, 025, 026, 027, 030, 033, 034, and part of 028) returned mostly 0.2-0.9 g/t Au over 3-38 meter intervals, at or near the 0.10 g/t cutoff.
Mineralization is described as epithermal-related banded quartz-carbonate veins, veinlets, and sulphide-cemented breccias with potassic (K-feldspar) halos and pyrite-sphalerite plus chalcopyrite-galena. This is accompanied by a selective pervasive sericite-chlorite-hematite altered bulk-tonnage halo, hosted in intermediate volcaniclastic rocks of the Metsantan Member (Early Jurassic Toodoggone formation).
The release reiterates an inaugural mineral resource estimate targeted for Q1 2027. It also notes visible gold in a quartz-carbonate vein at 170.83 meters in CZ-26-032, which assayed 0.55 m @ 90.60 g/t Au.
Sun Summit Minerals Corp. (SMN) is a pre-resource explorer with no revenue, reporting a net loss of C$3.29M for the six months ended May 31, 2026. The company held C$10.23M in cash and C$8.89M in working capital as of May 31, 2026, with no debt. Following a C$4M private placement in August 2026, which closed on top of a C$11.5M placement in December 2025, the company’s treasury is adequate for its current programme, though it remains entirely dependent on future equity issues.
The latest release confirms the Creek Zone persists 100 m to the northwest, with three step-out holes returning 86-102 g.m Au. The program demonstrated a 13-for-13 hit rate above the stated cutoff, increasing confidence in continuity for the Q1 2027 MRE and modestly enlarging the known footprint. However, the results do not establish a new zone, a new depth extent, or a new intrusive centre, nor do they represent a step change in scale. The findings do not beat the 2024-2025 grade-at-width record, with CZ-25-021 at 389 g.m remaining the benchmark and the single best Creek hole. The release carries no metallurgical or recovery information and covers only 13 of 55 holes at one of three zones.
The benchmark intercept, CZ-25-021 (81.0 m @ 4.80 g/t, 389 g.m), was published on November 25, 2025, when the stock closed at C$0.12. The stock is currently trading at C$0.14, having moved between C$0.11 and C$0.20 over the intervening year. The new best hole is approximately 26% of the anchor's gram-metres, consistent with and slightly below the historical benchmark in a footprint that has grown approximately 100 m on strike.
Sun Summit Minerals has a market capitalization of roughly C$49M on 351.8M shares outstanding and 504.3M fully diluted, including 124.1M warrants, of which the presentation states approximately C$14.1M is in the money, plus 28.4M options and RSUs. This warrant and option overhang presents a structural cap on per-share upside and a source of future supply.
Sun Summit Minerals Corp. (TSXV: SMN; OTCQB: SMREF), a Vancouver-based junior explorer, is led by CEO and Director Niel Marotta, who has a capital-markets background as a former Fidelity fund manager. Executive Chairman Brian Lock brings over 40 years of mining experience to the role, while VP Exploration Ken MacDonald, P.Geo., serves as the Qualified Person. Technical Advisor Christopher Leslie, P.Geo., previously served as VP Exploration on the JD project with Tower Resources, and Senior Advisor Robert D. Willis, P.Eng., provides additional technical oversight.
The company’s flagship JD Project is 100% owned and located in the Toodoggone District of north-central British Columbia, approximately 450 km northwest of Prince George and 25 km north of the Sturdee airstrip. The property is proximal to past-producing Kemess mine infrastructure, including roads and a 256 kV hydroelectric power line, and holds a five-year permit valid to 2030. The project hosts a roughly 4.5 km Creek-to-Finn epithermal Au-Ag corridor and a 12 km JD porphyry Cu-Au trend encompassing the Belle South, McClair Creek, and Moosehorn areas. Historical drilling totaled over 36,000 meters in more than 330 holes. Sun Summit conducted approximately 9,400 meters of drilling in 2024-2025, with a planned program for 2026 comprising over 16,000 meters across 55 holes. There is a documentation discrepancy regarding the land position: the release states the JD Project covers over 15,000 hectares, while the investor presentation lists 31,500 hectares for JD. The 31,500-hectare figure appears elsewhere to describe the aggregate district portfolio, including the JD, Theory, and Orbit projects.
The Theory Project is 100% owned under an option from Eagle Plains. Releases state the property covers 9,676 hectares, while the presentation lists 9,156 hectares. The copper-gold-silver property is in early exploration, featuring a roughly 3 km Saboteur copper trend with grab samples returning up to 4.78% Cu. The Fred-DM-DMR zone yielded samples of 6.42% Cu, 0.088 g/t Au, and 99 g/t Ag, as well as 0.65% Cu, 12.6 g/t Au, and 3,150 g/t Ag. Petrography is interpreted as the inner shell of a porphyry system, with historic first-ever drilling planned for 2027.
The Orbit Project is a joint venture with 51% owned by Sun Summit and 49% by Eagle Plains, which acts as the operator. The 6,595-hectare property is located 18 km north of the JD Project and features a new Calypso copper showing. A definitive JV agreement is expected by December 31, 2026.
The Buck Project is 100% owned and covers 52,000 hectares according to the presentation. It is a porphyry-related Cu-Mo-Au-Ag property that is permitted and bonded to drill. Historic intercepts include 168 meters at 0.37% Cu and 0.017% Mo, and 68 meters at 0.50% Cu and 0.015% Mo.
According to the investor presentation, the company has a market capitalization of C$51 million with 351.8 million shares outstanding. The capital structure includes 124.1 million warrants with a weighted average exercise price of 11.4 cents, representing approximately C$14.1 million in the money, and 28.4 million options/RSUs, bringing fully diluted shares to 504.3 million. Exploration and spending totaled C$2.5 million in 2024, C$7.5 million in 2025, and C$12.0 million in 2026. The company has an option commitment of C$22.5 million in JD expenditures by December 31, 2029.
Prior-period financials, not disclosed in today’s release, show no revenue. For the six months ended May 31, 2026, the company reported a net loss of C$3,290,851 and operating cash outflow of C$2,309,492. Cash holdings were C$10,229,835 with total equity of C$11,615,429 and no debt. Book value per share was C$0.04, with 317,525,447 shares outstanding at May 31, 2026, before an August 2026 C$4 million placement. Management acknowledges reliance on future equity financings and associated dilution risk, with no going-concern flag raised.
