Sun Summit Completes Over 16,000 Meters of Drilling at the JD Project, Toodoggone Mining District, B.C.
Sun Summit completes a 16,000m drill program at its project, with assay results and grade data currently pending.

Sun Summit Minerals Corp. (SMN) has completed its 2026 drilling program at the JD Project, comprising 55 holes totaling over 16,000 metres across the Creek, Finn, and Schmitt zones. The Creek Zone work included 21 holes for approximately 7,400 metres, covering an area of roughly 650 metres by 300 metres. This phase was designed to follow up on intercept CZ-25-021, which returned 81.0 metres at 4.80 g/t Au.
In the Finn Zone, 19 holes were drilled for approximately 5,400 metres, covering a footprint of roughly 650 metres by 600 metres. This activity served as a follow-up to FZ-25-002, which intersected 17.0 metres at 2.31 g/t Au with 113.1 g/t Ag. The Schmitt Zone program consisted of 15 holes for approximately 3,200 metres, covering an area of roughly 350 metres by 150 metres. All holes in this zone reportedly intersected local zones of strong brecciation and alteration similar to Finn Zone-style mineralization.
Assays are currently pending, with logging and sampling ongoing. Results will be released as they are received. An induced polarization (IP) survey is set to begin shortly over the JD Porphyry trend targets. A metallurgical report is expected in early Q4 2026, with an inaugural mineral resource estimate targeted for Q1 2027.
Sun Summit Minerals Corp. (SMN) released an update confirming the completion of its expanded drilling program, which reached a total of 15,000 metres. The company also noted that a $4 million placement closed in late August 2026. The release contained no assay results, meaning it does not alter the existing resource model, deposit size, or investment thesis.
For a pre-resource explorer, market attention typically focuses on grade, width, and continuity rather than drill metres alone. Consequently, the stock has traded mostly between $0.12 and $0.17 over the last several months, closing at $0.14 in the most recent session. Analysts view this update as ordinary news flow with limited expected impact on the share price, as no new grade or discovery is being reported.
Sun Summit Minerals Corp. (SMN) is a pre-revenue junior explorer focused on district-scale gold-silver-copper assets in British Columbia. The company’s flagship JD Project encompasses more than 15,000 hectares in the Toodoggone mining district. While no resource estimate has been completed to date, an inaugural MRE is targeted for Q1 2027.
The company also holds the Theory Project, a 9,676-hectare early-stage copper-gold porphyry exploration property with an option to earn 100% from Eagle Plains. The Buck Project consists of 52,000 hectares near Houston, BC, and contains a historical/inferred-style resource at Buck Main, though it is not the focus of the current release. Additionally, the Orbit Project comprises 6,595 hectares under a 51/49 joint venture with Eagle Plains and is in the early reconnaissance phase for copper-gold-silver.
As of May 31, 2026, Sun Summit reported cash of approximately $10.2 million with no debt. The company recorded a six-month net loss of approximately $3.29 million.
