Sun Summit Minerals Corp. (SMN) has mobilized an exploration crew to commence its 2026 fieldwork program at the Orbit copper-gold project in north-central British Columbia. This initiative builds upon the 2025 discovery of the Calypso Zone and aims to expand that target while exploring remote-sensing anomalies through prospecting, geological mapping, geochemical sampling, and soil sampling.

The Orbit Project is situated in BC's Toodoggone Mining District, covering approximately 6,600 hectares. It is jointly owned 51% by Sun Summit and 49% by Eagle Plains Resources Ltd. A formal agreement was reached with Eagle Plains on May 6, 2026, to form a definitive joint venture by December 31, 2026, with Eagle Plains named as the operator.

The 2026 exploration program is designed to better define and expand the Calypso Zone, which is defined by copper mineralization over a 300-meter area in silica-sericite altered intrusive rocks. Additional activities include exploring other remote-sensing anomalies to find additional mineral showings and identify prospective trends. Planned work includes prospecting, geological mapping, and geochemical sampling based at fly camps, as well as property-wide silt sampling on 1st and 2nd order streams. The team will also conduct prospecting, mapping, and rock sampling of the Calypso Zone, reconnaissance of prioritized remote-sensing anomalies identified in 2025, and soil sampling down-ridge of altered or mineralized structures.

Fieldwork is managed by TerraLogic Exploration Inc., with helicopter and logistical support provided by the Company's JD Project camp. Work is expected to continue into September.

Highlights from the 2025 field season include significant grab samples from the Calypso target. A total of 39 rock samples were taken targeting quartz veins and altered intrusive compositions. Key results included:

  • Sample JBOIR011: Quartz veining in granodiorite returned 3.8 ppm Au, 130 ppm Ag, and 134.5 ppm Mo.
  • Sample THOIR009: Strongly altered intrusive rock with stringers of chalcopyrite and bornite returned 1.37 ppm Au, 26.9 ppm Ag, 4,780 ppm Cu, and 447 ppm Sb.
  • Sample THOIR011: Float sample from granodiorite containing abundant malachite and semi-massive chalcopyrite/bornite (locally 40% of rock) returned 0.780 ppm Au, 10.3 ppm Ag, and 9,640 ppm Cu.
  • Sample JBOIR007: Altered diorite gneiss with quartz veining returned 0.7 ppm Au and 9.5 ppm Ag.
