Coppernico’s permit approval unlocks a 3,100-hectare drill expansion at Peru’s Sombrero project.

Coppernico Metals Inc. has received approval for its Environmental Impact Assessment – Semi-detailed (EIA-Sd) for an expanded drilling permit at its Sombrero Project in Peru. The approved permit expands the exploration area from 904 hectares to approximately 3,122 hectares. Authorized drill capacity increases from 38 platforms/49 holes to 181 platforms/300 holes. The Category II approval allows for multiple drill rigs and operational flexibility to adjust targets based on new geological data.
The expanded area covers high-priority targets including Fierrazo, Corrales, Chumpi, Escondida, Huachana, and Tipicancha. The company is now awaiting the final start-of-activities authorization from the Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) before drilling can commence. Drilling is expected to commence in the coming months with a phased program planned across 2026 and 2027.
