Coppernico Signs Drill Contract for Phase 2 Drill Program at Sombrero
Coppernico has signed a Phase 2 drilling contract for the Sombrero project, pending final authorization from MINEM.

Coppernico Metals Inc. has announced a drilling contract with AK Drilling International S.A. for a minimum of 5,000 metres of diamond drilling at its Sombrero Project in Peru. The Phase 2 program is currently pending final start-of-activities authorization from Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), with mobilization expected shortly after approval.
The drilling strategy targets expanding known mineralization at Fierrazo and testing new high-priority exploration targets including Ccascabamba, Tipicancha, Huachana, Nioc, Chumpi, Hojota, and Corrales. The company confirmed it is financed for the initial stages of the program, citing C$6.5 million secured through recent financings in June and August 2026, which included participation from Teck Resources Limited.
Management highlighted the successful, incident-free completion of Phase 1 drilling, ongoing community agricultural initiatives via AGROIDEAS, and scheduled attendance at investor conferences in late 2026 and early 2027.
Coppernico Metals Inc. (COPR) signed a drill contract following the expanded environmental permit approval received on August 10, 2026, and the closing of C$6.5 million in financing on August 6, 2026. This agreement confirms management's execution capability and validates the progression from permitting to operational drilling. The news confirms the planned timeline for testing district-scale copper-gold targets rather than introducing fundamentally new valuation drivers or unexpected milestones. Market pricing likely already reflected the permit approval and financing, marking the contract signing as an incremental step in the exploration lifecycle.
Coppernico Metals Inc. is an exploration-stage company focused on the Sombrero Project in Peru, which encompasses a land package of approximately 57,000 hectares. The flagship project features multiple advanced copper-gold skarn and porphyry targets, with Fierrazo and Nioc being the most prominent.
Historical and recent surface channel sampling has identified continuous, high-grade copper-gold intervals. Notable results include 70.1m at 0.92% Cu and 0.25 g/t Au at Nioc, as well as broad historical intervals at Fierrazo. The company is advancing a district-scale exploration model, integrating geophysical surveys, including gravity, magnetic, and IP, with surface mapping to define drill-ready targets.
