Altair Resources appoints Maglione as director
Altair’s balance sheet is dominated by halted trading, negative equity, and a speculative rare earth element earn-in.

Altair Resources Inc. announced on August 11, 2026, the appointment of Marc Maglione to its Board of Directors and the resignation of Dr. Michael G. Nelson. The appointment is linked to the company’s recently announced Letter of Intent (LOI) to acquire up to a 95% interest in the Lab Paradigm rare earth element (REE) project in Labrador.
CEO George Young highlighted Maglione's 20 years of international resources experience, including senior roles at Rio Tinto, Trafigura, and Wolverine Fuels, as critical for closing the acquisition, initiating a NI 43-101 technical report, and conducting a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA).
This development follows the July 23, 2026 announcement of the binding LOI for 1,534 claim blocks (38,379 hectares) in Labrador. The transaction requires significant cash expenditures and share issuances over four years, alongside a proposed 10-for-1 share consolidation. Trading on the TSX Venture Exchange has been halted since November 2023 pending regulatory and exchange approvals for the Labrador transaction.
Altair Resources Inc. (AVX) announced a board appointment as part of a routine governance update designed to facilitate the execution of its Labrador rare earth element (REE) acquisition. The company remains in a halted trading status with a severely constrained balance sheet, and the appointment does not resolve the immediate liquidity crisis or the going concern uncertainty disclosed in the FY2026 financials.
The news is incremental to the previously announced letter of intent (LOI) and aligns with management’s stated plan to bring in experienced directors to navigate the complex earn-in structure. Given the halted status and lack of trading volume, the development is not considered market-moving.
Altair Resources Inc. is a pre-revenue junior exploration company focused on critical minerals. Its flagship asset is the Lab Paradigm Project, located in Labrador, Canada, which covers 38,379 hectares across the Fox, Long Point, and High Hills rare earth element (REE) trends. The project hosts light and heavy REEs, including neodymium, praseodymium, and dysprosium, as well as gallium, niobium, tantalum, and zirconium. While historical data from adjacent properties suggests potential, Altair has not yet verified resources or conducted its own exploration. Trading in the company’s shares has been halted on the TSX Venture Exchange since November 2023.
