Ellis Martin Report: GFG Resources (GFGSF) CEO Brian Skanderbeg Discusses Barrick Partnership and Gold Discovery Strategy in Timmins
GFG’s Barrick earn-in de-risks the Pen deposit while Aljo and Nahanni results validate the district’s potential.

GFG Resources Inc. released an interview and report on September 1, 2026, featuring CEO Brian Skanderbeg discussing the company’s gold discovery strategy in the Timmins district and its recently announced partnership with Barrick Gold. The interview outlines the terms of Barrick’s earn-in agreement, which allows the mining giant to acquire an initial 60% interest in the Pen Gold Project. This initial stake requires $1.2 million in cash, $17.68 million in exploration expenditures, and a NI 43-101 technical report targeting 1.5 million ounces of gold equivalent (AuEq) within six years. Barrick’s interest can increase to 70% and subsequently 80% upon the funding of a preliminary economic assessment (PEA) and a feasibility study.
In addition to the Barrick partnership, GFG highlighted activity on its Goldarm Property, where it retains 100% ownership. Recent drilling at the Aljo target reported high-grade intersections, including 23 grams per tonne of gold (g/t Au) over 7 metres and 16 g/t Au over 11 metres. The company also pointed to Nahanni, a new greenfield discovery identified as a previously untested target along the Pipestone Deformation Zone.
Alamos Gold maintains an approximately 10.8% equity position in GFG Resources. The company plans to continue drilling and target generation across the Goldarm Property while Barrick advances exploration at the Pen project.
GFG Resources Inc. (GFG) released a follow-up interview on September 2026, reiterating the terms of the Barrick earn-in transaction originally announced on August 25, 2026. The release highlights ongoing drill results but introduces no new financial terms, deal structures, or operational milestones. The market was already aware of the Barrick partnership, which includes a $1.2M immediate cash payment and a $17.68M exploration commitment.
Drill results from the Aljo and Nahanni projects are positive but incremental to the Phase 2-2025 and early 2026 programs already reported. These results validate the district-scale potential of the assets but do not yet constitute a resource definition or economic study.
GFG Resources Inc. is a gold exploration company focused on properties in the Timmins Gold District, Ontario, Canada. The company controls a consolidated land position of over 850 km² across multiple prospective deformation zones, positioning it as a significant landholder in the historic Timmins camp.
Flagship assets include the 100%-owned Goldarm Property, which covers approximately 263 km², and the Pen Gold Project, which is subject to a strategic earn-in agreement with Barrick Gold. The Aljo Gold Project on the Goldarm Property serves as the primary near-term exploration focus. Phase 2-2025 and early 2026 drilling has confirmed high-grade continuity in the Hangingwall, Main, and Footwall zones. Additionally, the Nahanni discovery represents a new greenfield target along the Pipestone Deformation Zone, validated by first-pass drilling intersecting high-grade intervals.
