NV Gold Announces Commencement of 2026 Drill Program at its Slumber Gold Project
NV begins drilling at Slumber to test a 1.5km oxide zone connection.

NV Gold Corporation (NVX) announced the official commencement of its 2026 drill program at its 100%-controlled Slumber Gold Project in Nevada. Drilling is scheduled to begin on September 1, 2026, following the acquisition of several hundred acres of private land.
The program targets up to 35 reverse circulation (RC) holes totaling 8,000 meters (~28,000 ft). The primary objective is to connect the north (Awakening) and south (Slumber) zones by testing a 1.5 km undrilled area of near-surface silicified oxide gold mineralization. Target depths will extend beyond 300 meters, consistent with historical oxide zones.
The company states it is fully financed with over $2.5M in cash, holds a significant amount of in-the-money warrants, and carries zero debt. Chairman and CEO John Watson characterized the program as the "busiest year in our corporate history" and noted the Slumber discovery is "potentially a transformational event."
NV Gold Corporation (NVX) has commenced its drill program, a direct follow-up to the August 6, 2026 announcement regarding the expansion of holdings and the initiation of a 5,000-meter RC program. The scope has been expanded to 8,000 meters, indicating management's confidence and execution capability.
The market had already priced in this development. The stock rallied from ~$0.20 in early August to a high of $0.60 by mid-August on the initial drill expansion and financing news. The current price of $0.58 reflects consolidation after the initial hype.
Financially, the company has de-risked its balance sheet significantly. Multiple private placements and warrant exercises throughout 2025 and 2026 have eliminated debt and built a cash reserve well in excess of the immediate drilling budget.
The news is expected and incremental. It confirms management is executing on previously disclosed plans rather than introducing a new, unexpected catalyst.
NV Gold Corporation (TSXV: NVX) is a Nevada-focused exploration company trading on the TSX Venture Exchange. Its flagship asset is the Slumber Gold Project, located approximately 80.5 km northwest of Winnemucca and about 35 km west of the Sleeper gold deposit. The project is currently in the exploration stage and features a near-surface oxide gold system with a strike length of approximately 1 km. Preliminary metallurgical tests have indicated high recoveries.
In March 2023, the company announced an exploration target of approximately 450,000 gold ounces, characterized by wide-spaced drilling with long, low-grade intercepts. The company also holds other projects, including SW Pipe, which remains a priority though no recent technical details have been provided, and Triple T, where the lease was terminated due to economic infeasibility. The company operates in Nevada, USA, a world-class gold mining region known for its established infrastructure and favorable mining laws.
