Drill Results
Western Gold working toward drilling at Caledonian

WGLD · Price
Executive Summary
- Western Gold Exploration Ltd. released the first tranche of rock grab and drainage sampling data from the Lyon licence application within its Glen Lyon joint venture with Acrux Gold Ltd.
- The results validate historic high-grade gold assays and identify new high-grade outcrop and float samples in areas previously unsampled or poorly sampled.
- The company is advancing its exploration program with plans for backpack drilling, channel sampling, and further geophysical surveys to define targets ahead of future drilling.
Key Details
- Rock Grab Sampling Results:
- Total of 199 rock grab outcrop and float samples assayed to date.
- Float samples returned up to 252 grams per tonne gold (g/t Au).
- Outcrop grab samples returned up to 64.9 g/t Au.
- 24% of samples (n=48) assayed above 1 g/t Au.
- Approximately 10% of samples (n=18) assayed above 10 g/t Au.
- Four spatially distinct locations with high-grade gold in outcrop identified.
- Specific High-Grade Findings:
- Coire Leaeach area: Up to 30.5 g/t Au and 2,190 g/t Ag discovered in outcrop grab samples; several new mineralized veins up to two metres wide identified. Historic data record for this area was one outcrop up to 9.4 g/t Au.
- Meall Daill: Up to 27.7 g/t Au float discovered in tributaries, located over five kilometres east of the nearest historic sample.
- Drainage Sampling Results:
- Total of 52 panned concentrate drainage samples assayed.
- 14 samples were highly anomalous in gold (≥ 0.1 g/t Au), with visible gold present in six samples.
- Anomalous gold confirmed in all historically sampled drainage basins.
- Gleann Cailleach basin (14 sq km): Previously assessed by British Geological Survey with only one anomalous sample. New sampling shows 50% of samples (7 of 14) contain elevated gold. Two streams returned 4.61 g/t Au and 3.99 g/t Au.
- Fionn a' Ghlinne basin (4 sq km): First-pass mainstream sample returned 0.61 g/t Au. Located close to the Tyndrum fault, the structure responsible for the Cononish deposit.
- Future Objectives:
- Continue boots-on-the-ground exploration to verify historic high-grade outcrops, particularly in the neighboring Orchy application area.
- Conduct targeted backpack drilling and channel sampling of identified gold-bearing structures.
- Execute a second-stage drainage sampling program in smaller tributaries.
- Deploy large-scale soil grids to define strike extent and continuity of mineralized structures.
- Utilize airborne and/or ground-based geophysics, including potential drone-mounted magnetics surveys.
- Geological Context:
- Lyon licence application is situated in the Grampian terrane, part of the Caledonian mineral belt.
- Area is underlain by Dalradian supergroup metasedimentary rocks.
- Mineralization age dating from nearby Cononish deposit indicates gold mineralization occurred around 410 to 406 Ma.
Notable Quotes
- "Our latest exploration results validate the high-grade gold shown in historic assays and reveal new outcrop and boulders in areas well beyond the scope of past work," said Harry Dobson, chairman. "We're maintaining an active, boots-on-the-ground approach to exploration and target development as we continue to advance the project towards drilling."
