Western Gold Provides Exploration and Corporate Update
Western’s Caledonian project drilling advances continue while assay results are deferred to the fourth quarter.

Western Gold Exploration Ltd. (WGLD) issued an operational update on its Caledonian Gold Project as of August 28, 2026. The company has completed approximately 650 metres of diamond drilling across four holes at Drill Pad 1, with operations now commencing at Drill Pad 2. The initial programme targets a minimum of eight diamond drill holes totaling at least 1,500 metres within the Lyon licence area.
Initial core logging and assay results from Drill Pad 1 are expected in late Q3 2026, with full programme results anticipated through Q4 2026. A minor corporate update noted the appointment of John Thomson to the Audit Committee and the filing of financial statements for the periods ended June 30, 2026. The project remains held through a Glen Lyon Joint Venture with Acrux Gold, with Western Gold holding a 90% interest during the exploration phase.
Western Gold Exploration Ltd. (WGLD) confirmed that drilling progress remains on track relative to the maiden drilling commencement announced on June 29, 2026. The assay timeline remains unchanged from previous guidance, with no surprises regarding delays or accelerations. The release serves as a standard operational follow-up that validates execution but introduces no new geological data, financial metrics, or strategic shifts. Given that the market already priced in the drilling commencement and the expected assay timeline, this update is considered incremental and expected.
Western Gold Exploration Ltd. (WGLD) is a junior exploration company focused on the Caledonian Gold Project in central Scotland. The flagship project is structured as a 90/10 Joint Venture with Acrux Gold, which owns the nearby Cononish mine, Scotland's only producing gold and silver mine. The project covers approximately 225 square kilometres across the Glen Orchy and Lyon licence applications.
Historical and recent surface sampling has identified high-grade gold and silver occurrences, with grab samples returning up to 383.2 g/t Au and 2,760 g/t Ag. The company is currently in the maiden diamond drilling phase, targeting structurally controlled high-grade gold mineralization similar to the neighbouring Cononish deposit.
