Austral Gold Files Q3 2026 Quarterly Activities Report

Austral guides Casposo ramp to 24-27koz, with net cash offsetting the Guanaco miss.

Executive Summary

Austral Gold Limited (AGLD) filed its Q3 2026 Quarterly Activities Report for the period ended 30 September 2026. The announcement serves as a summary wrapper for the full report filed on ASX/SEDAR+, with operating tables contained in the underlying document rather than the announcement text.

Production rose 50% quarter-on-quarter to 6,479 GEOs from company-owned material, compared to 4,313 GEOs in Q2 2026. This increase was driven by Casposo’s first full quarter processing its own ore, with monthly output stepping from 803 GEOs in July to 1,334 GEOs in September. Guanaco production remained broadly steady at 3,313 GEOs, constrained by severe winter weather, high ore moisture, and unplanned maintenance.

The company’s balance sheet shows financial debt cut by US$4.4 million to US$17.6 million, with cash holdings of US$20.1 million, resulting in a net cash position of US$2.5 million. This contrasts with a net financial debt of US$1.7 million at 30 June 2026. Revenue for the quarter was US$23.4 million, down from US$32.4 million in Q2 2026, which included US$6.5 million of toll processing fees. Sales of 5,354 GEOs were below production due to export shipment timing, while the average cash margin stood at 32.5%.

Unit costs for Guanaco in Q3 were US$2,726/GEO for C1 and US$2,984/GEO for AISC, with year-to-date figures at US$2,686 and US$2,988 respectively. Casposo reported Q3 C1 costs of US$3,123/GEO and AISC of US$4,032/GEO, with year-to-date costs at US$2,159 and US$2,674.

Austral Gold revised its CY2026 production guidance, cutting the range to 24,000–27,000 GEOs from the previous 27,000–33,000 GEOs. Guanaco’s guidance was cut to 13,000–14,000 GEOs, while Casposo remained at 11,000–13,000 GEOs. Casposo’s C1 guidance was raised to US$2,400–2,600/GEO and AISC to US$3,000–3,200/GEO. Guanaco cost guidance was maintained, though full-year C1 and AISC are now expected toward the upper end of the range.

The Guanaco Technical Report, outlining a 14-year mine life and a US$192.1 million after-tax NPV at a 10% discount rate, was re-stated rather than newly released; it was originally issued on 22 July 2026. The company spent US$1.2 million on exploration during the quarter.

The release did not provide realized price, consolidated AISC, net profit or operating cash flow for the quarter, segment revenue split, capex breakdown, or a status update on the Inesperada/Dumbo Environmental Impact Declaration. The July technical report flagged that this declaration covers roughly 53% of reserve gold and is targeted for approval in Q4 2026/Q1 2027.

Material Impact

Austral Gold Limited (AGLD) revised its production and cost guidance, marking a shift from the operational results reported in the third quarter. The company reported a 50% quarter-on-quarter increase in production for Q3, a figure driven largely by the fact that the prior quarter recorded no own-ore production from the Casposo asset, making the comparison mechanically favorable.

The updated guidance reflects arithmetic realities rather than a sudden surprise. Consolidated year-to-date 2026 production totaled 18,127 GEOs, comprising 7,335 GEOs in Q1, 4,313 GEOs in Q2, and 6,479 GEOs in Q3. Under the previous guidance of 27,000–33,000 GEOs for the full year, the company would have needed to produce between 8,873 and 14,873 GEOs in Q4 alone. This requirement was more than double the best quarterly performance of the year, indicating the prior range was unattainable. The market had already priced in this shortfall, with the stock declining 29% from A$0.17 on 3 September 2026 to A$0.12 on 26 October 2026. The share price drifted lower throughout October, falling from A$0.15 on 1 October to A$0.12 on 26 October.

The more significant deviation from previous models was the revision to cost guidance. Austral Gold lifted its Casposo C1 guidance to US$2,400–2,600/GEO and its All-In Sustaining Costs (AISC) to US$3,000–3,200/GEO. This stands in contrast to Q3 results, which recorded C1 of US$3,123/GEO and AISC of US$4,032/GEO. Achieving the new cost targets would require a sharp improvement in Q4 performance; failure to do so presents a risk of a second cost cut.

Offsetting these challenges are improvements in the company’s financial position and operational throughput. Austral Gold moved to a net cash position, reducing debt by US$4.4 million in a single quarter. The company holds US$20.1 million in cash, resulting in a net cash position of US$2.5 million. Additionally, Casposo’s monthly production ramped from 803 GEOs to 1,334 GEOs, demonstrating improved plant throughput.

The release confirms an operational shortfall at the larger, lower-cost asset and raises the cost base at the smaller one. These factors represent a company-specific negative rather than a commodity-driven issue. The situation does not, however, constitute a solvency or balance-sheet event.

Company Overview

Austral Gold Limited (ASX: AGD / TSXV: AGLD / OTCQB: AGLDF) is a junior precious metals producer operating a two-cluster, two-jurisdiction base in South America. The company is led by CEO Stabro Kasaneva, Non-Executive Chair Eduardo Elsztain, and Chief Financial Officer and Joint Company Secretary Jose Bordogna.

The Guanaco Mine, located in the Antofagasta Region of Chile, is a 100%-owned asset and the company’s larger operation. It produced 3,313 GEOs in Q3 2026 through a heap-leach reprocessing and open-pit model. This operation combines new open-pit ore with the reprocessing of legacy heap-leach pads using existing permitted infrastructure, including CIC-ADR/Merrill-Crowe and agitation leach circuits. The mine holds a modest reserve grade of 0.84 g/t Au with a 71.9% gold recovery rate. It operates under a 14-year life-of-mine plan extending to February 2040, with an after-tax NPV of US$192.1 million.

In San Juan, Argentina, the 100%-owned Casposo-Manantiales mine was restarted in 2025 and now accounts for half of group production, yielding 3,166 GEOs in Q3 2026. The operation mines the Julieta and Mercado pits and reprocesses stockpiles. As of the June 2025 estimate, the site has approximately 74 months of remaining reserve life. The mine recently transitioned from toll processing third-party material (Challenger/Hualilan) to processing 100% own ore. This shift improves structural margins but removes a US$5.9–6.5 million per-quarter fee revenue line.

The company’s exploration portfolio includes Los Nanos at Guanaco, which holds the highest-grade resource in the open-pit inventory with 54 kt M&I at 5.06 g/t Au plus 378 kt Inferred at 1.54 g/t Au. This resource is not included in reserves or the mine plan and is located within 2.5 km of the plant. Additional exploration activities include district drilling at Casposo-Manantiales and the Juncal project in northern Chile. Juncal covers 2,100 ha, approximately 70 km south of Guanaco, and features mapped silver-gold epithermal veins that were drill-untested prior to the current program.

Austral Gold also maintains an equity investments pillar through shares in ASX-listed Unico Silver. The company sold 6,588,761 Unico shares for US$4.7 million net and deployed US$2.7 million to exercise 15 million options at A$0.26. This is a concentrated, illiquid holding whose value is not consolidated into the earnings discussed here.
