Austral Gold and Challenger Agree to End Toll Agreement
Austral terminates its toll agreement, marking a contractual reset rather than a fundamental shift in its dual-asset strategy.

Austral Gold Limited (AGLD) and Challenger Gold mutually terminated their Toll Processing Agreement effective October 1, 2026. As part of the termination, Challenger will pay US$1.0 million to Casposo representing the deferred balance of the initial fee, with interest waived. Payment is due by April 2, 2029, or upon commencement of commercial production at Challenger's Hualilan Project.
Both parties released each other from claims and agreed to continue good-faith discussions on purchasing mineralized material from Hualilan. Casposo will continue processing its own material. Austral expects no material financial impact in the current period from ceasing toll processing. The company is evaluating other third-party processing and mineralized material purchase opportunities in the San Juan region.
Austral Gold Limited (AGLD) has terminated its toll agreement, a move characterized as a routine contractual adjustment rather than a material operational disruption. The company will receive a US$1.0 million settlement, which is due in 2029. While this receivable provides no near-term liquidity boost, it removes a contingent liability from the balance sheet.
The loss of US$5.9 million in Q2 toll fees is offset by the elimination of tolling costs and the resumption of Casposo's own ore processing. Following the September 10 update on the transition discussions, the market has already priced in the change, with the stock trading in a tight $0.15–$0.17 range. Austral Gold Limited maintains its core dual-asset strategy, continuing operations at Guanaco in Chile and Casposo in Argentina.
Austral Gold Limited (AGLD) operates two producing assets in South America: Guanaco in Chile and Casposo in Argentina. Guanaco is an open-pit heap-leach and agitation leach operation with a 14-year life of mine plan that leverages existing infrastructure. Casposo is a silver-gold operation in San Juan, Argentina, which was recently restarted following a US$7 million refurbishment. The company also holds a strategic investment in Unico Silver (ASX: UVC). Management emphasizes a dual-cluster strategy to diversify jurisdictional risk and production streams.
