Franco-Nevada Becomes Significant Shareholder of Kenorland Minerals
Franco-Nevada takes a 12% stake in Kenorland, reinforcing its strategy to support junior exploration activities.

Franco-Nevada Corporation acquired 10,000,000 common shares of Kenorland Minerals Ltd. (KLD) through private agreements, representing approximately 12.42% of the company's outstanding shares. The total consideration for the transaction was $22.2 million, with shares purchased at $2.22 each from existing insiders John Tognetti and CEO Zach Flood.
As a result of the sale, John Tognetti reduced his holding from approximately 13.80% to approximately 3.93% and is no longer considered an insider. Franco-Nevada has stated it has no current plans to acquire additional securities or dispose of the stake. Early warning reports were filed under National Instrument 62-103, and the transaction is classified as a strategic investment for portfolio diversification and exploration optionality.
Franco-Nevada Corporation (FNV) made a $22.2 million strategic equity purchase in Kenorland, a move representing less than 0.5% of its $4.3 billion in available capital and less than 0.04% of its market capitalization. The transaction does not alter the company’s production guidance, cost structure, or balance sheet leverage.
The deal aligns with Franco-Nevada’s established strategy of backing junior explorers with high-grade, jurisdictionally sound assets, similar to previous investments in Minerals 260, i-80 Gold, and Orezone.
Franco-Nevada Corporation operates a diversified portfolio of 121 cash-flow producing assets across North America, South America, Africa, and Australia. The portfolio composition includes gold, silver, PGM, iron ore, and oil/gas royalties and streams.
Key producing assets include Cobre Panamá, Antamina, Côté Gold, Detour Lake, Hemlo, and Western Limb. Development-stage projects include Copper World, Bullabulling, Stibnite Gold, and Youanmi. The company maintains a debt-free balance sheet and focuses on high-margin, low-capital-intensity royalty and stream structures.
