Phenom sees SSR affiliate acquire 15% of Dobbin
SSR Mining acquires a $4 million joint venture stake to advance exploration optionality at its Dobbin project.

SSR Mining Inc. has acquired a 15% interest in Phenom Resources Corp.’s Dobbin project for $4 million USD. The stake is held through a newly incorporated Nevada limited liability company, with Copper One USA Inc., an affiliate of Phenom, retaining an initial 85% interest. This transaction brings the total funding provided by SSR to Phenom to approximately $11 million, when combined with the company’s prior 9.9% stake investment.
The capital will finance exploration activities through the remainder of the 2026 drilling season and into early summer 2027. Copper One USA Inc. remains the initial manager of the project and retains operational control. The deal follows a framework agreement announced in Q2 2026.
Under the terms of the agreement, if SSR’s interest drops below 10%, it ceases to be a joint venture member and instead receives an up-to-2% net smelter return (NSR) royalty on production.
SSR Mining Inc. (SSRM) executed a previously announced framework agreement, committing $4 million toward the Dobbin project. This expenditure is immaterial to the company’s approximately $10.56 billion market capitalization and $1.78 billion cash balance. The advance supports organic growth options, as Dobbin is considered a Carlin-style target, but it does not alter the mine life, net asset value, or near-term production and cost profile. Following the company’s second-quarter earnings, the stock traded in a tight $48–$54 range, suggesting the market had already priced in the $4 million advance.
SSR Mining Inc. (SSRM) is an Americas-focused gold and silver producer and the third-largest gold producer in the United States. Its flagship assets include the Marigold and Cripple Creek & Victor mines in the USA, the Seabee mine in Canada, and the Puna project in Argentina. The company recently completed a strategic pivot by exiting Türkiye through the $1.49 billion sale of the Çöpler mine, while retaining a net smelter return (NSR) interest in Hod Maden.
