Intrepid Announces C$6.5 million Non-Brokered Private Placement
Teck Resources Tightens Grip on Intrepid Metals with C$6.5 Million Direct Investment as Arizona Copper District Heats Up

On February 9, 2026, Intrepid Metals Corp. announced a non-brokered private placement of C$6,500,000 at a price of C$0.60 per common share. The financing is led by a significant increased investment from Teck Resources Limited. Concurrent with the financing, Teck and Intrepid amended their existing Investor Rights Agreement. Teck’s maximum ownership has been increased from 15% to 19.9%, and Teck’s right of first refusal (ROFR) on the flagship Corral Copper Project has been extended by six months. Additionally, the technical committee governance was adjusted to provide Teck with a tie-breaking vote. Director Matt Lennox-King resigned from the board effective immediately.
This news is materially positive for three primary reasons: - Strategic Endorsement: Teck Resources is not merely maintaining its position but is doubling its potential stake (from 9.9% to 19.9%) and paying C$0.60 per share, which is near the current market price and significantly higher than their initial C$0.45 entry in December 2025. - Financial Runway: The C$6.5 million provides a 30-month exploration runway for the "Committed Program" at Corral. For a junior explorer with a historical burn rate of roughly C$600,000 per month (as of Q3 2025), this removes immediate insolvency risk. - Governance Shift: By granting Teck a tie-breaking vote on the technical committee, Intrepid is essentially handing over technical control to a major mining house, which significantly de-risks the exploration methodology but also suggests Intrepid is being positioned as an eventual acquisition target for Teck.
Intrepid Metals focuses on copper-gold-silver-zinc projects in Arizona, a Tier-1 jurisdiction. Its flagship is the Corral Copper Project in Cochise County. The project consists of approximately 10,346 acres and is characterized by Carbonate Replacement Deposit (CRD) and skarn-style mineralization, with evidence pointing toward an underlying porphyry system. Key zones include Ringo, Earp, Holliday, and the newly defined Clanton Zone. The company also holds the Mesa Well and Tombstone South properties.
