Canstar Resources Intersects 15.6 Metres of Massive Sulphide Grading 2.3% CuEq at Mary March, Including 9.75 Metres at 3.3% CuEq

Canstar Resources Inc. (ROX) has reported results from the first phase of its 2026 drill program at the Mary March Project, identifying the widest massive sulphide intercept in the project's drilling history. The company stated that all four holes drilled in the 2026 summer program intersected visually logged mineralization consistent with a volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) system. Holes MM-26-41, MM-26-43, and MM-26-44 pierced the full thickness of the target Fleetway Rhyolite, with apparent thicknesses ranging from 298 to 320 meters.
The primary highlight came from hole MM-26-42, which intersected a 15.6-meter interval grading 2.3% copper equivalent (CuEq) from 467.4 meters to 483.0 meters. This interval is hosted by the Fleetway Rhyolite and is fault-bounded, meaning the full width was not intersected. The hole was stopped at 576 meters due to unstable ground conditions, leaving the lower rhyolite contact untested at this location.
The specific intercepts reported for hole MM-26-42 are as follows:
- 15.6 m at 2.3% CuEq (0.73% Cu, 0.73% Pb, 2.10% Zn, 0.71 g/t Au, 19.0 g/t Ag) from 467.4 m to 483.0 m.
- Including 9.75 m at 3.3% CuEq (1.13% Cu, 1.14% Pb, 3.27% Zn, 0.89 g/t Au, 25.5 g/t Ag) from 473.25 m to 483.0 m.
- Including 5.0 m at 3.9% CuEq (1.71% Cu, 1.11% Pb, 3.02% Zn, 0.94 g/t Au, 32.6 g/t Ag) from 476.0 m to 481.0 m.
In hole MM-26-44, two narrow intervals of visually logged massive sulphide were identified at the upper rhyolite contact, spanning 330.7–331.9 meters (1.2 m) and 332.2–333.8 meters (1.6 m), totaling approximately 2.8 meters. Assays for these intervals are pending. Additionally, strongly altered, pyritic mafic breccias were intersected at the lower rhyolite contact at 632.5 meters.
Hole MM-26-41 encountered approximately 271 meters of altered rhyolite with copper- and zinc-bearing stringer and disseminated mineralization, which is interpreted as a potential VMS feeder zone. Below the lower rhyolite contact at 710.6 meters, mafic breccias carry an 8-meter interval of stringer mineralization, for which assays are also pending.
Step-out results from hole MM-26-43 intersected the upper rhyolite contact at 478 meters, approximately 130 meters from hole MM-26-42, extending the altered rhyolite to the southwest. A faulted contact lies within a 17-meter interval of visually logged moderate mineralization, with altered rhyolite continuing to 676 meters. Assays for this hole are pending.
Assays have been received for hole MM-26-42 only. Results are pending for holes MM-26-41, MM-26-43, and MM-26-44, as well as a discrete 1-meter visually logged massive sulphide interval in MM-26-42 from 501.8 to 502.8 meters. The mineralized system is described as open along strike and at depth.
Regarding financing and ownership, earn-in partner VMS Mining Corporation (VMSC) invested an additional $2.0 million ahead of schedule. This brings total funding to $4.0 million to date, with $3.5 million allocated in 2026. This capital will fund a planned fall drill campaign. Additionally, Glencore’s legacy joint-venture interest was converted to a 2% net smelter returns (NSR) royalty, consolidating project ownership under Canstar and VMSC.
Juan Carlos Giron Jr., President & CEO, commented: "We are encouraged to have intersected the widest massive sulphide interval in Mary March's drilling record, in the first holes drilled here since 2019, and to have found it where our geological model predicted it... VMSC's accelerated $2.0 million investment supports the next phase of work, and the planned fall campaign will continue testing the system."
Bob Patey, P.Geo., Vice President, Exploration, added: "This drill program began testing the rhyolite systematically, including, for the first time, its far southeastern margin and its base. This second notable massive sulphide intercept at Mary March may indicate a significant mineralized system, subject to further drilling and assay confirmation."
Quality assurance and quality control samples were prepared at the Canstar core shed in Millertown, NL, and shipped to ALS in Moncton, NB. ALS is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and certified to ISO 9001:2015. Certified reference materials, consisting of four standards and two blanks, were inserted every 100 samples. Analysis was conducted via four-acid digestion (ME-4ACD81), with over-limit re-runs for Ag, Cu, Pb, and Zn exceeding 10,000 ppm. Gold was analyzed using 30 g fire assay with atomic absorption finish (Au-AA25).
Assay results are expected through September. Borehole electromagnetic (BHEM) surveys are scheduled to begin mid-September, with a fall drill campaign targeted to begin in October, subject to rig availability.
