Talon Metals Completes Previously Announced Acquisition of Lundin Mining's Eagle Mine and Humboldt Mill Operations Creating a Multi-Asset U.S. Nickel-Copper Company
Talon Transforms from Explorer to Producer as Lundin Mining Hands Over the Keys to Only U.S. Nickel Mine

On January 9, 2026, Talon Metals Corp. (TLO) announced the completion of its acquisition of the Eagle Mine and Humboldt Mill from Lundin Mining. This transaction transforms Talon from an exploration and development company into the only primary nickel-copper producer in the United States. Key deal components include the issuance of 275,152,232 Talon shares to Lundin (giving them 19.99% ownership) and a production royalty of US$1.00 per tonne for non-Eagle ore processed at Humboldt (capped at $20M). Simultaneously, Talon appointed Darby Stacey (former Eagle Mine Managing Director) as CEO and added Jack Lundin (Lundin Mining CEO) to its board. A 1-for-10 share consolidation was also announced, effective January 23, 2026.
This is a transformative "Game Changer" event. - Production Status: Talon immediately gains cash flow from an operating mine, mitigating the "pre-revenue" risk typical of junior miners. - Infrastructure Synergy: Owning the Humboldt Mill is critical for the future development of Talon’s flagship Tamarack project. It removes the massive capital hurdle of building a new mill from scratch. - Strategic Backing: The transaction cements a deep relationship with the Lundin Group, one of the most successful mining families globally. - Dilution & Consolidation: While the share issuance to Lundin is significant, it is strategic. The 1-for-10 consolidation is aimed at attracting institutional investors who avoid "penny stocks."
Talon Metals' flagship is the Tamarack Nickel-Copper-Cobalt Project in Minnesota, a joint venture with Kennecott (Rio Tinto). Talon currently holds 51% and is earning into 60%. The project is high-grade and has significant US government support due to its role in the domestic EV battery supply chain. The addition of the Eagle Mine (Michigan) adds immediate production, while the Beulah Battery Minerals Processing Facility (North Dakota) is being developed to process Tamarack’s ore using US DOE grants.
