American Eagle Hits 411 Metres of 0.43% CuEq Near Surface in First 2026 Step-Out East of South Zone
American Eagle’s near-surface porphyry step-out at the project remains open with long widths but lower grades than the high-grade anchor.

American Eagle Gold Corp. reported the first 2026 step-out on the southern margin of the Babine porphyry stock at NAK. Hole NAK26-89 returned 411 metres of 0.43% CuEq from 47 m to 458 m downhole. The broader interval was 880 metres of 0.30% CuEq from 47 m to 927 m. Primary grades for the 411 m interval are 0.22% Cu, 0.13 g/t Au, 1.1 g/t Ag and 66 ppm Mo.
The release says mineralization was continuous through the first 450 m, with narrower high-grade intervals deeper, but no specific high-grade sub-interval table is reported. The hole is described as extending near-surface mineralization 250 metres east of the South Zone and linking to NAK25-62. Six holes totalling 5,305 metres have been assayed and reported this season; 18 holes of a planned 80-hole, 55,000-metre program are complete.
American Eagle Gold Corp. (AE) is a pre-resource explorer, meaning the latest drill result matters to the exploration thesis rather than to current revenue or reserves. The result represents a legitimate successful step-out, extending near-surface porphyry mineralization 250 m east of the South Zone and supporting the southern stock margin concept.
Against the same-target predecessor NAK25-62, the hole is positive because it adds material strike length and near-surface mineralized volume. However, against the most recent high-grade anchor NAK26-87, the hole is much weaker in grade-width substance, with no comparable high-grade core quantified. Because this is a new area and only one step-out, it is encouraging but not yet deposit-defining.
The stock has already re-rated from about $0.55 in late 2025 to $1.27-$1.33 in August 2026, so the bar is elevated, but a new near-surface step-out of this length is still net positive exploration news.
American Eagle Gold Corp. is a TSXV-listed junior explorer advancing the NAK copper-gold porphyry project in central British Columbia. The project is situated in the Babine porphyry district, featuring road access and proximity to rail and power infrastructure. No NI 43-101 mineral resource or reserve has been established at NAK.
The company has strong strategic backing from South32, which holds approximately 19.9%, and Teck, which holds about 12.9%, alongside Eric Sprott and Ore Group. Cash reserves stand at approximately $44 million as of Q1 2026 per reported financials, with company commentary citing roughly $50 million and a fully funded 55,000-metre program. The 2026-2027 program includes roughly 80 planned holes, with three drill rigs operating through at least April 2027.
