American Eagle Expands Its Babine Porphyry District Land Position with Hearne Hill South Option
American Eagle’s strategic land option expands the Babine porphyry footprint to support future drilling programs.

American Eagle Gold Corp. has expanded its land position in the Babine Porphyry District to approximately 9,283 hectares, marking a 470% increase from its previous holding of 1,632 hectares. The expansion is driven by an option agreement with Eagle Plains Resources Ltd. to earn up to an 80% interest in the Hearne Hill South, Jinx, and NAK NW properties.
Under the earn-in terms, American Eagle must complete $4.85 million in exploration expenditures, pay $400,000 in cash, and issue 1.2 million common shares over six years. Near-term obligations are capped at $600,000, $100,000, and 200,000 shares through the end of 2027. The company may increase its interest to 80% via a one-time payment of $1 million, with up to 50% of that amount payable in shares. Eagle Plains retains a 2.0% NSR royalty, which is repurchasable for $2.5 million.
The new ground is adjacent to the Morrison deposit and Hearne Hill porphyry system, located less than 5 km from the flagship NAK project. Exploration plans include data compilation, 3D magnetic inversion, soil geochemistry, and ground geophysics to define drill targets, running parallel to the fully funded 55,000-metre NAK drill campaign.
American Eagle Gold Corp. (AE) has pursued a land expansion as a strategic follow-up to its terminated Pacific Booker takeover bid, allowing the company to consolidate district-scale assets independently without overpaying for a failed acquisition. The option structure is capital-efficient and preserves the company’s approximately $50 million cash balance, though it introduces future dilution of 1.2 million shares and mandatory exploration spend.
The move was expected given the failed acquisition and aligns with management’s stated goal of expanding the Babine district footprint. While the news does not immediately alter the financial outlook or NAK drill results, it adds a long-term exploration option. The impact is incremental and positive for the exploration thesis, but not market-moving in isolation.
American Eagle Gold Corp. is a junior exploration company focused on the NAK copper-gold porphyry project in the Babine district of British Columbia. The NAK project features a large, near-surface system with a footprint of approximately 1.5 x 1.7 km, characterized by high-grade South Zone mineralization that extends from the surface to depths exceeding 800 meters. Recent drilling has consistently delivered long intervals of copper-gold-molybdenum mineralization, supporting a district-scale porphyry model. The company is targeting a maiden resource estimate and a preliminary economic assessment for 2027, with a fully funded 55,000-metre drill program currently underway.
