Patagonia Gold Provides Update on Calcatreu Project

Patagonia’s Calcatreu project faces delayed ramp-up and tight liquidity due to a labour suspension.

Executive Summary

Patagonia Gold Corp. announced a preventive, partial, and temporary suspension of certain operational activities at its flagship Calcatreu Project in Argentina. The suspension was ordered by the Río Negro Secretariat of Labour following an inspection on August 19, 2026.

The company is currently assessing the scope of the suspension and cooperating with provincial authorities to resolve the issues. Essential maintenance and health and safety activities will continue at the site while the suspension remains in effect. No specific timeline for resumption was provided beyond a general commitment to resume full operations "as soon as possible."

Material Impact

While such suspensions are not uncommon in the region, the timing is critical as Calcatreu serves as the company's primary growth engine, with any delay pushing back revenue generation and cash flow.

The suspension does not immediately threaten solvency but exacerbates the company's already precarious liquidity position. With only $0.27M in cash and a $13.98M working capital deficit, the company relies heavily on debt facilities and equity markets to fund operations. A prolonged suspension could force additional dilutive financing or delay debt repayments.

The market has already priced in some of this risk, as the stock has declined from $1.33 to $0.56 over the past five months. The news is unlikely to trigger a panic sell-off but will likely cap upside until the suspension is lifted and a clear resumption timeline is provided.

Company Overview

Patagonia Gold Corp. is a mineral exploration and production company focused on gold and silver projects in Argentina’s Santa Cruz, Rio Negro, and Chubut Provinces. Its flagship asset is the Calcatreu Project in Rio Negro, a low-sulphidation, epithermal gold-silver system that is scheduled to transition from construction to leaching in Q1 2026.

The company’s producing assets include Cap-Oeste in Santa Cruz, where residual heap leach operations are generating modest cash flow, and Lomada de Leiva, also in Santa Cruz, which is currently in closure and rehabilitation following previous production. On the exploration front, Astra Exploration has earned an 80% interest in the La Manchuria project in Santa Cruz, with a NewCo formation underway. Additionally, the Tornado and Huracán projects remain under option with Newmont. The company is led by CEO Christopher van Tienhoven, who is focusing on strategic partnerships and advancing projects through third-party investment.
