West Point Gold Grows Second Target at Gold Chain; Black Dyke Returns 7.6 m of 2.22 g/t Au
West Point reported modest shallow gold at Black Dyke, expanding district potential without significant grade or width to impact results.

West Point Gold Corp. (WPG) released drilling results on August 11, 2026, for the Black Dyke prospect, located 4 km west of the Tyro Main Zone. Hole GC26-144 returned 7.6 m of 2.22 g/t Au from 62.5 m; GC26-146 returned 16.8 m of 0.90 g/t Au from 71.6 m; GC26-143 returned 6.1 m of 1.49 g/t Au from 54.9 m. Two other holes had no significant intercepts.
The company also acquired historical drill data from prior operators, including high-grade intercepts (>30 g/t Au) ~200 m southwest of current drilling, which will guide future campaigns. The release frames Black Dyke as a second potential satellite resource area.
West Point Gold Corp. (WPG) reported results from the Black Dyke target, a satellite prospect located 4 km from the main Tyro Main Zone, where a maiden resource is pending. These intercepts do not alter the resource thesis for Tyro Main. To become material, Black Dyke would need thicker, higher-grade hits over a demonstrable volume; these first results are too weak to de-risk.
The company’s primary value driver remains the Tyro Main and NE Tyro maiden resource, expected in H2 2026. Black Dyke is considered a minor footnote at this stage. The stock price was $1.50 on August 10, following a recovery from $0.97 in June. The prior release, which reported Tyro Main intercepts of 30.4 m @ 2.31 g/t, provided a modest bump. The market likely views Black Dyke as background noise, as the intercepts are not strong enough to shift valuation meaningfully. This release adds incremental positive information but is not material.
West Point Gold Corp. (WPG) is a Canadian junior explorer focused on the Gold Chain project in Arizona, a low-sulphidation epithermal gold district with past production. The company’s primary targets are the Tyro Main and NE Tyro zones, where drilling has defined a mineralized system with a strike length exceeding 1.2 km and high-grade intervals, including 66.2 m @ 6.57 g/t Au. A maiden resource estimate is targeted for the second half of 2026.
The company also holds the Jefferson Canyon project in Nevada, which is under option with Kinross, and the Baxter Spring project in Nevada, acquired in 2025 and featuring historical high-grade intercepts.
West Point Gold has approximately 135 million shares outstanding and held $20.4 million in cash as of March 31, 2026, following a $25 million financing in February 2026. The company has a market capitalization of approximately $200 million CAD and carries no debt.
