Altamira Gold Expands Mineralized Porphyry System at Maria Bonita Gold Deposit, Cajueiro District, Brazil
Altamira’s low-grade porphyry gold expansion at Maria Bonita adds tonnage but lacks the grade punch to re-rate the project.

Altamira Gold Corp. reported drill results from holes MBA039 and MBA038, which extend mineralization to the northwest of the existing Maria Bonita resource. MBA039 returned 117 m @ 0.4 g/t Au from surface (core length), hosted in volcanic tuffs outside the current resource limit. MBA038 intersected 74 m @ 0.3 g/t Au from 74 m downhole, with a peak 1 m assay of 1.64 g/t Au, associated with quartz veining in both porphyry and wall rock tuffs. The company claims the mineralized system is “significantly larger” and extends into wall rock tuffs.
At the Mombaque prospect, two scout holes returned only narrow, low-grade gold, reducing the likelihood of a scalable system there.
Altamira Gold Corp. (ALTA) released drill results from its Mombaque project, adding tonnage to a low-grade resource without identifying a new high-grade zone or significantly extending mine life. The company is in an advanced exploration stage with a 43-101 resource but no production, carrying a market capitalization of approximately C$53 million. This valuation implies a price of roughly $70 per ounce for the 720,000 ounces of total Indicated and Inferred resources, a figure that already accounts for substantial exploration potential.
Investor reaction has been muted, with the stock declining from a high of $0.38 in October 2025 to $0.18 prior to this release. Previous drill results, including MBA036/037 at 0.5 g/t, failed to sustain a rally beyond $0.25.
Altamira Gold Corp. (ALTA) is a junior explorer focused on the Cajueiro porphyry gold district in Mato Grosso, Brazil. The project hosts two NI 43-101 resources: Cajueiro Central (5.66 Mt @ 1.02 g/t Au Indicated + 12.66 Mt @ 1.26 g/t Au Inferred) and Maria Bonita (24.19 Mt @ 0.46 g/t Au Indicated + 25.64 Mt @ 0.44 g/t Au Inferred), for a total of ~720,000 oz Indicated and ~877,000 oz Inferred.
Metallurgy is simple, with recoveries >90% for free-milling gold. Infrastructure is good (road, grid power, water).
The company has no debt and ~C$7.5M in cash (as of Feb 2026), but it is burning ~C$0.5M/quarter and will need additional financing to sustain exploration.
Management includes experienced Brazil gold discoverers (Mike Bennett, Alan Carter) and a technical advisory from Dr. Richard Sillitoe, lending credibility to the porphyry model.
