(LEM) is advancing its midstream processing strategy for the Norra Kär Heavy Rare Earth Elements (HREE) Project in Sweden, focusing on hydrometallurgical pilot testing to demonstrate commercial-scale processing of eudialyte concentrate. The company secured Swedish Government funding through Vinnova for two research projects, SHLENK and NordAL, totaling over SEK 70 million (CAD 10 million) to support critical raw materials supply chain resilience.
Domain sampling is currently underway to generate high-grade eudialyte concentrate for upcoming pilot plant testing, with the goal of verifying pre-treatment approaches for silicate management and optimizing the processing flowsheet ahead of the Pre-feasibility Study (PFS). The processing strategy limits on-site mineral processing to crushing, grinding, and magnetic separation, with eudialyte concentrate transported to a separate, established industrial location for chemical processing to keep the mine footprint small.
This operational update follows the grant of a 25-year Exploitation Concession (mining lease) on June 28, 2026, positioning Norra Kär as the EU’s first heavy rare earth elements mine.
