K92 Mining Announces Strong Q2 Production Results - 46,093 oz AuEq Produced, with Strong Mine Ramp-Up Progress - Record Quarterly Lateral Development, and Ore Tonnes Mined and Processed

K92 maintains its second-half weighted guidance despite concerns over potential grade slippage and rising costs.

Executive Summary

K92 Mining Inc. released its Q2 2026 production results for the Kainantu Gold Mine, reporting gold-equivalent production of 46,093 oz, comprising 42,931 oz of gold, 1.78 million pounds of copper, and 50,109 oz of silver. The output was supported by multiple physical records, including ore processed of 225,965 tonnes, which represented a 73% year-over-year increase and a 59% quarter-over-quarter increase. Lateral development reached a record 3,326 metres, while total material mined hit a record 426,012 tonnes.

Head grade declined to 6.7 g/t AuEq (6.2 g/t Au, 0.4% Cu) from 10.9 g/t AuEq in Q1, reflecting planned dilution as throughput ramps. Metallurgical recoveries remained strong at 93.8% for gold and 93.2% for copper. The company reiterated its 2026 annual production guidance of 190,000–225,000 oz AuEq, with the second half expected to be stronger.

Key Stage 3 expansion milestones were achieved during the quarter. The second material pass became operational in June, and the Phase 2 power station expansion was completed in May, bringing prime power to 15.3 MW. The underground paste plant is on track for practical completion in Q4 2026. Fleet additions and surface road upgrades, including the finished Baupa Bridge, support the throughput ramp.

Material Impact

K92 Mining Inc. (KNT) released its Q2 production update, which provided no new financial or strategic information beyond standard quarterly operational metrics. The company produced 46,093 oz AuEq, a figure in line with expectations for a ramp-up quarter. This output was slightly below Q1’s 46,743 oz but remained consistent with the required H2 run rate.

The reiteration of annual guidance was expected. While physical records regarding development and ore processed were positive, these developments had already been telegraphed by prior updates on the Stage 3 plant commissioning and fleet additions. There was no change to the investment thesis, no revision to cost or production guidance, and no transformational event.

Company Overview

K92 Mining Inc. operates the Kainantu Gold Mine in Papua New Guinea, an underground gold-copper-silver operation. The company recently commissioned a 1.2 Mtpa Stage 3 expansion plant, completed in December 2025, and is targeting a further Stage 4 expansion to 1.8 Mtpa and greater than 400 koz AuEqpa by late 2027.

Reserves as of January 2024 total 1.69 moz AuEq at 6.7 g/t, while Measured and Indicated resources stand at 4.5 moz AuEq. Additional resources include 14.6 moz AuEq inferred at the Blue Lake porphyry and the rapidly expanding Arakompa discovery. The operation benefits from high recoveries, a strong jurisdictional partnership with the PNG government, and significant exploration upside.
