Faster Permitting Paths Put Gold-Antimony Projects on Both Sides of the Pacific in Focus
Alkane reported a first-quarter cash flow beat and launched its maiden dividend, marking a significant milestone for the mining company.

Alkane Resources Limited (ALK) reported first-quarter FY27 results for the period ended 30 September 2026, delivering 40,740 ounces of gold equivalent (AuEq) production. The company’s consolidated All-In Sustaining Cost (AISC) came in at $2,805 per ounce AuEq, a figure below the full-year guidance range of $2,900–$3,200. Mine operating cash flow reached $102 million, supported by strong realized gold prices of $5,128/oz and antimony prices of $23,842/t.
Site-level performance varied across operations. Tomingley and Björkdal met targets with improved throughput, while Costerfield experienced grade dilution from geological overbreak, pushing its AISC to $3,194/oz. Total capital expenditure for the quarter was $59 million, split between $13 million in sustaining costs, $37 million in growth projects, and $9 million in exploration.
The Board declared a maiden fully franked dividend of 2 cents per share, totaling $24 million, and approved a $50 million on-market share buyback program. Full-year FY27 guidance was reaffirmed at 163,000–177,000 AuEq oz production and an AISC of $2,900–$3,200/oz. The company closed the quarter with $459 million in cash, bullion, and listed investments, maintaining a debt-free balance sheet aside from $16 million in equipment finance.
Alkane Resources Limited (ALK) reported first-quarter FY27 results that confirm operational execution aligns with management's prior commitments, maintaining both production pacing and cost discipline. The company announced a maiden dividend and a $50 million share buyback, moves that signal management's confidence in sustained cash generation and provide a structural floor for shareholder returns.
Despite the positive outlook on cash flow, Costerfield’s all-in sustaining costs (AISC) missed guidance, coming in at $3,194 against a target range of $2,700–$3,000. This miss, combined with softness in antimony prices, introduces near-term margin headwinds, though the overall cash flow profile remains robust.
Market reaction to the results was largely in line with expectations. The stock pulled back from approximately $1.80 to $1.55 following the release before recovering to $1.70, indicating that the dividend and buyback program offset minor operational friction.
Alkane Resources Limited operates three producing mines across Australia and Sweden following its August 2025 merger with Mandalay Resources. The company’s primary operations include the Tomingley Gold Project in New South Wales, an open pit and underground facility producing gold and antimony, and the Costerfield Gold & Antimony Project in Victoria, an underground operation characterized by high-grade gold-antimony veins. In Sweden, the company manages the Björkdal Gold Mine, an underground and open cut operation producing gold.
Development and exploration activities are centered on the Boda-Kaiser copper-gold porphyry project, the Nagambie gold-antimony project, and the Peak Hill historic gold mine, which holds deep extension potential. The company’s primary commodities are gold and antimony, with copper serving as a secondary commodity.
