Errington Metals Announces Combined $700,000 Funding Awards from Critical Minerals Innovation Fund and Ontario Junior Exploration Program

EM · Price

Errington Metals Corp. has secured a combined $700,000 in direct funding from the Government of Ontario to support technical studies, metallurgical work, and exploration activities at its Sudbury Basin Project. The award, designated for the development of copper, zinc, and associated precious and base metals, was distributed through two distinct government programs: the Critical Minerals Innovation Fund (CMIF) and the Ontario Junior Exploration Program (OJEP).

The $500,000 CMIF award will fund a systematic metallurgical study aimed at improving recovery rates for copper, zinc, gold, silver, and lead. This initiative utilizes both conventional and recently developed techniques to evaluate processing pathways for polymetallic sulphide mineralization. The funding is expected to cover approximately 50% of the metallurgical program costs over the next year, with the goal of enhancing future critical-minerals recovery.

The $200,000 OJEP award supported the identification of new exploration targets under cover through geophysical interpretations. This included the completion of a magnetotelluric survey across the Errington mineralized zone, which measures resistivity to depths of approximately 500 to 1,000 meters below surface. Preliminary results from the survey successfully identified known mineralization areas and detected additional low-resistivity areas indicative of sulphide mineralization that have not yet been drilled.

The Sudbury Basin Project is being advanced as a potential near-term source of copper and zinc, both recognized as critical minerals by the Government of Canada. Concurrently, the Company is completing a 45,000-metre drill program in 2026 designed to support an initial mineral resource estimate and test regional targets.

"This funding is a strong endorsement of the critical-minerals potential of the Sudbury Basin Project and the importance of advancing domestic sources of copper and zinc," said Matthew Gollat, President and CEO of Errington Metals. "Support from CMIF and OJEP allows Errington to accelerate metallurgical work, evaluate new exploration targets and advance a project that is well aligned with Ontario's critical minerals strategy."
