Northern Shield Confirms Surface Porphyry Copper Discovery at Creston; Identifies Further Copper Mineralization, Root & Cellar, Newfoundland

Northern Shield confirms surface porphyry copper at Creston ahead of imminent maiden drilling.

Executive Summary

Northern Shield Resources Inc. (NRN) has confirmed a surface porphyry copper discovery at the Creston Target on its Root & Cellar property in Newfoundland. A composite rock sample from the Creston Discovery outcrop assayed 0.31% Cu, hosted within an intermediate diorite to monzodiorite porphyry. Specularite-bearing wall-rock samples returned tellurium anomalies up to 11.6 ppm Te, cited as a pathfinder for fertile alkalic copper-gold systems.

Additional copper mineralization was identified approximately 700 meters southwest of Creston in a quarry, featuring chalcopyrite-bornite veins and pervasive disseminated copper minerals. Near-term exploration plans include mechanical trenching downslope of the Creston outcrop to test continuity toward the IP-1 chargeability response, followed by a planned maiden drilling program to test the IP-1 target and the quarry occurrence. Samples were analyzed by ALS Global with QA/QC meeting targeted values. Technical information was reviewed by Mike Muggridge, P. Geo.

Material Impact

Northern Shield Resources Inc. (NRN) announced that the recent findings follow up on the August 2026 3D IP geophysical survey, which defined four priority targets designated IP-1 to IP-4. The reported 0.31% Cu composite and quarry findings serve as preliminary surface indicators that validate the geophysical model and support the interpretation of a broader porphyry system. These results do not yet represent a resource estimate or significant drill intercept.

The update confirms the company is progressing as planned from geophysics to surface sampling and is preparing for its maiden drilling program at Creston. Given the incremental nature of the update and the fact that the market was already aware of the planned drilling and IP survey results, the impact is expected to be limited. The news serves as a positive validation of the exploration model rather than a step-out discovery.

Company Overview

Northern Shield Resources Inc. (NRN) is an exploration-stage junior focused on epithermal gold, porphyry copper, and magmatic Ni-Cu-Co systems in Newfoundland, Canada. The company’s flagship asset is the Root & Cellar Property on the Burin Peninsula, which features a polymetallic porphyry system with epithermal gold-silver-tellurium mineralization.

Recent expansions have added the Fortune Property, covering 212 km² of epithermal and porphyry copper ground, and the Cape St. Mary's claims, totaling 136 km² of porphyry and Ni-Cu-Co potential. These additions bring the company’s total land position to 420 km². The projects remain in the greenfield exploration stage, with no resources or economic studies completed to date.
