Anfield Energy Receives Positive Colorado DRMS Decision Completing State Review of JD-8 Uranium-Vanadium Mine
Anfield’s JD-8 mine received Colorado state reclamation clearance while the federal Department of Energy review continues.

Anfield Energy Inc. (AEC) has secured approval from the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (DRMS) for the JD-8 Hard Rock Reclamation Permit. The permit establishes a financial warranty of US$620,000 and covers a 28.30-acre area.
In parallel regulatory progress, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) accepted the draft Environmental Assessment template for the JD-8 Mine Plan, allowing the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review to proceed. The company maintains its target to restart uranium and vanadium production at JD-8 by the end of Q2 2027, contingent on final permit issuance and DOE approval.
JD-8 is a past-producing conventional underground uranium and vanadium mine located approximately 11 miles west of Naturita, Colorado, leveraging existing JD-7 infrastructure. Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) metrics indicate a 15-year mine life producing approximately 1.3 million lbs U3O8 and approximately 6.4 million lbs V2O5 annually. The assessment projects a pre-tax NPV of US$606 million and an IRR of 106% at $100/lb U and $9/lb V.
Anfield Energy Inc. (AEC) has secured approval for the state reclamation permit, a procedural milestone that derisks the permitting timeline but does not constitute final production authorization. The Department of Energy federal review remains ongoing, representing a significant regulatory hurdle that must be cleared before mining can commence.
The news aligns with previous expectations, as the company has been advancing the JD-8 permit since late 2025. The Department of the Interior’s recommendation in August 2026 set the stage for this October approval. No new financial or operational surprises are introduced, and the production timeline remains unchanged at the end of Q2 2027. While the market context of strong uranium prices, approximately $90 per pound spot, supports the economic case, the news itself is incremental to the broader permitting process.
Anfield Energy Inc. (AEC) is a pre-revenue uranium and vanadium exploration and development company operating a "hub-and-spoke" production model in the United States. Its flagship hub is the Shootaring Canyon Mill in Utah, one of only three licensed conventional uranium mills in the country, which is currently undergoing refurbishment to increase capacity to 1,000 tons per day.
The company’s spoke projects include Velvet-Wood in Utah, Slick Rock in Colorado, and the West Slope mines in Colorado, specifically JD-8, JD-7, and JD-5. This strategy relies on processing ore from multiple past-producing and brownfield mines through the centralized mill to achieve economies of scale and rapid production ramp-up. Anfield targets restarting production at Velvet-Wood by late 2026 and JD-8 by mid-2027.
