Miata Reports 94.6% Average Gold Recovery in Initial Metallurgical Test Results from Jons Trend at Sela Creek, Suriname
Miata’s Sela Creek project demonstrates high recovery rates, though the asset remains in the exploration stage without confirmed economic metrics.

Miata Metals Corp. announced initial metallurgical test results for the Jons Trend corridor at its Sela Creek Gold Project in Suriname. Four composite drill core samples tested via combined gravity separation and a 48-hour bottle roll leach yielded an average gold recovery of 94.6%, ranging from 91.8% to 98.5%. The gold is predominantly free-milling and non-refractory, suitable for standard orogenic gold recovery circuits.
X-ray diffraction analysis shows 1-2% sulphides and very low total organic carbon (0.03%–0.05%), indicating limited potential for preg-robbing. The company confirmed its on-site sample preparation laboratory is operational, reducing assay and shipping costs by approximately US$10 per metre drilled.
Founding director James Reid was appointed Executive Chair, effective October 1, 2026, receiving 1,683,331 performance share units (PSUs) representing 1% of outstanding shares, vesting only upon a change of control or commercial production.
Miata Metals Corp. (MMET) released metallurgical results that represent a logical progression following its extensive 2025 and 2026 drilling campaigns, which established high-grade, continuous mineralization at Jons Trend and Big Berg. High recovery rates achieved using conventional gravity and leach circuits significantly de-risk future processing costs and support the geological model of a bulk-tonnage, open-pit viable system.
The company noted that these results do not constitute a resource estimate, economic study, or NI 43-101 compliant report. Instead, they serve as incremental technical data that validate the exploration thesis. Miata Metals also announced the appointment of James Reid as Executive Chair, with performance share units (PSUs) tied to long-term milestones, aligning management incentives with shareholder value creation.
Miata Metals Corp. (TSXV: MMET) is an exploration-stage company focused on orogenic gold projects in Suriname's Guyana Shield. Its flagship asset is the 215 km² Sela Creek Gold Project, which features the Jons Trend and Big Berg targets. The system is structurally controlled, with mineralization open along strike and at depth.
The company also holds a secondary asset, the 200 km² Nassau Project, located near Newmont’s Merian pit and Zijin’s Rosebel mine. Concessions for this property are pending renewal. Miata Metals holds a 70% beneficial interest in both projects, with options to earn 100% through cash payments, stock issuances, and work commitments.
The company is currently in the grassroots exploration stage. No NI 43-101 resources or reserves have been defined, and activities are limited to geological mapping, sampling, and diamond drilling.
