ARRAS MINERALS UPDATES ON STRATEGIC ALLIANCE AND OUTLINES EXPLORATION PLAN FOR 2026 IN KAZAKHSTAN
Teck Resources abandons exploration alliance after "unmet thresholds," leaving Arras to self-fund or find new partners for 1,900 sq km of grassroots licenses.

The most recent news release (February 09, 2026) confirms that Teck Resources Limited has elected to terminate its option to earn into the Strategic Alliance License Package in Kazakhstan. While Teck funded the initial US$5 million generative program over two years, they decided the results did not meet their internal threshold to proceed with the second phase, which would have required an investment of up to US$47.5 million per project. Arras retains 100% interest in these licenses (1,900 sq km) and plans to follow up on several targets (Shirderty, Bozshakol South, Tort Kuduk) in 2026 using its own resources. Concurrently, Arras granted 47,018 DSUs to directors in lieu of cash.
- Strategic Validation Loss: Teck’s exit is a material negative indicator for the 1,900 sq km alliance package. A major miner’s decision that results "do not meet our threshold" suggests the targets identified thus far lack the scale or grade required for a Tier-1 discovery.
- Financial Pressure: The termination removes a significant source of external funding. Arras must now decide whether to dilute shareholders further to explore these grassroots targets or focus its remaining capital strictly on the flagship Elemes project.
- Shareholder Support: On the positive side, Teck remains a supportive 9.9% shareholder, indicating they still value Arras's management and the 100%-owned Elemes project, which was not part of the alliance.
- Asset Recapture: Arras now owns 100% of the data and the land, providing "flexibility," though this is a standard industry euphemism for the loss of a deep-pocketed partner.
Arras Minerals is a Kazakhstan-focused copper-gold explorer. Its flagship is the 100%-owned Elemes Project, specifically the Berezski Trend. Unlike the grassroots alliance properties, Elemes has produced significant drill intercepts, including 246m @ 1.02% CuEq and 547m @ 0.70% CuEq. The company pivoted in 2025 by terminating its option on the Beskauga project to focus capital on Elemes, which appears to host a large, near-surface porphyry system.
