Wesdome Intersects 3.1 g/t Gold over 106.5 Metres at Shawkey 10, Significantly Expanding the Mineralized System

Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd. (WDO) has released exploration drilling results from its Kiena mine in Quebec, highlighting hole SH-26-001 at the Shawkey 10 target. The primary intersection in SH-26-001 returned 3.1 g/t Au uncapped over 106.5 meters (2.6 g/t Au capped), which approximately doubles the grade-thickness of the previous 2021 intersection (S-21-831) and expands the interpreted diorite host rock thickness from ~80m to over 200m. The results support the potential for a broader "Kiena East" mineralized corridor, with additional high-grade intercepts identified at depth, suggesting the system may extend from surface to over 700 meters true depth.

The primary intersection in SH-26-001 included the following intervals:

  • 3.1 g/t Au uncapped over 106.5 m core length (2.6 g/t Au capped).
  • Includes 20.4 g/t Au uncapped over 10.8 m core length (15.4 g/t Au capped).
  • Includes 5.6 g/t Au uncapped over 6.2 m core length (5.6 g/t Au capped).
  • Includes 3.1 g/t Au uncapped over 9.2 m core length (3.1 g/t Au capped).

Secondary intersections in SH-26-001 included 1.6 g/t Au uncapped over 23.4 m core length (1.6 g/t Au capped) from 914.0 m to 937.4 m, which includes 2.5 g/t Au over 6.4 m from 916.5 m to 922.9 m. Additional lower-grade intercepts reported in Table 1 include:

  • 1.1 g/t Au over 7.2 m (687.3–694.5 m)
  • 2.0 g/t Au over 6.2 m (718.3–724.5 m)
  • 1.3 g/t Au over 4.1 m (757.4–761.5 m)
  • 4.3 g/t Au over 2.0 m (816.1–818.1 m)
  • 8.6 g/t Au over 3.1 m (847.0–850.1 m)
  • 2.4 g/t Au over 3.6 m (867.1–870.7 m)
  • 1.4 g/t Au over 4.1 m (896.0–900.1 m)

The interpreted thickness of the diorite host rock more than doubled from approximately 80 meters to over 200 meters. The new hole is a follow-up to S-21-831 (drilled in 2021), which intersected 2.3 g/t Au over 72.0 m; the new result approximately doubles that grade-thickness. Mineralization at depth (below 687m) suggests the system may extend from surface to more than 700 meters true depth, remaining open at depth. Drilling orientation was changed from subparallel to perpendicular to the vein stacking axis to better confirm vein dips to the southwest.

In total, 102 surface drill holes were completed at Shawkey 10, totaling 25,725 meters. Additionally, 45 underground drill holes were completed from historic workings, totaling 5,023 meters.

Assays were processed by ALS Minerals in Val-d'Or, Quebec, using fire assay with atomic absorption finish. Samples greater than 3 g/t Au were re-run with gravimetric finish, and samples greater than 10 g/t Au were re-run with metallic sieve method. Quality assurance and control measures included internal duplicates, standards, and blanks, with the geology department inserting blind duplicates, standards, and blanks at a frequency of 1 in 20. Breanne Beh, P.Geo., and Serge Gonthier, P.Geo., are the Qualified Persons. Assays were capped at 90.0 g/t for Shawkey 10.

Anthea Bath, President and CEO, stated, "Today's results provide further evidence of the scale and breadth of the Kiena system and a meaningful step forward in our understanding of what the Kiena East corridor... could become." She added, "The emerging picture at Kiena East... bears the hallmarks of a system with real scale potential."

Jono Lawrence, SVP Exploration and Resources, noted, "The result confirms a broad zone of diorite-hosted mineralization and identifies several higher-grade quartz-tourmaline vein intervals within it."
