Storm Exploration Commences Drilling at Gold Standard
Storm Exploration drilled the first hole at the Gold Standard VMS target, marking the start of exploration at the deposit.

Storm Exploration Inc. (STRM) has launched its initial drill program at the 100% owned Gold Standard Project in Ontario. The initiative targets a Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide (VMS) anomaly identified through 2026 VTEM and ground VLF geophysics. The first phase of operations involves up to 1,500 metres of core drilling across approximately 10 holes, with a focus on the north-south arm of the conductivity anomaly.
Field activities are scheduled to continue until September 27, 2026, after which the site will close for the First Nations traditional moose hunt. Management’s objective is to confirm whether VMS-type mineralization is associated with the large conductivity anomaly.
Historical data provides context for the current exploration. Inco drilled four shallow holes between 1969 and 1970 that intersected copper and zinc sulphides, though these were not assayed. More recently, surface sampling near the HW-271 mine returned significant values, including:
- 166 g/t Au
- 197 g/t Ag
- 1.47% Cu
Storm Exploration Inc. (STRM) has reached a routine operational milestone following the receipt of its drill permit on August 19, 2026, and the successful closing of a $3.2 million non-brokered private placement on September 14/15, 2026. The commencement of drilling was explicitly planned for Q3 2026 in prior releases, marking this as an expected execution step rather than a surprise.
The development validates management's ability to secure capital, notably including a $2 million subscription from Eric Sprott, and transition from exploration planning to active field verification. While the news is positive, the market likely priced in this progression given the funding and permitting timeline. There are no new material surprises, but the update confirms the company is executing on its stated exploration roadmap.
Storm Exploration Inc. (TSX-V: STRM) is a pre-revenue mineral exploration company operating in the mineral-rich Uchi Geological Subprovince of Northwestern Ontario. Its flagship Gold Standard Project comprises 7,636 hectares, which the company owns 100%. The project centers on a 5-kilometre-long, 50-100 metre wide conductivity anomaly interpreted as a VMS system, with historical surface sampling and unassayed Inco drilling supporting the VMS hypothesis.
The company’s portfolio includes the Keezhik Project (12,480 ha), which features high-grade gold targets with historical assays up to 18.9 g/t Au, and the Attwood Project (23,230 ha), which hosts base metal potential with arsenopyrite-bearing sulphides and untested EM anomalies. All properties are road-accessible, and the company has established exploration agreements with local First Nations, including the Eabametoong First Nation (EFN), which has publicly endorsed the company's collaborative approach.
