Unigold Announces Strong Community Support for Initiation of Neita Project Environmental and Social Impact Assessment
Unigold secures community backing for the Neita ESIA, advancing the permitting timeline for its gold project.

Unigold Inc. (UGD) has confirmed that local authorities and residents in Restauracion, Dominican Republic, have formally supported the initiation of an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the Neita Project. The company stated that letters of support were delivered to the President of the Dominican Republic by municipal councils and the Mayor, accompanied by a 725-signature community petition.
Unigold expects to commence further feasibility work and the ESIA process in Q4 2026. The company's Exploitation Concession application remains pending since 2024.
The announcement aligns with previous guidance from February and May 2026, which outlined community engagement and ESIA initiation targets. It represents a procedural step forward in the permitting process rather than a fundamental change in project economics or resource estimates. The news is expected and incremental, reinforcing management's timeline without introducing new financial data or operational milestones.
Unigold Inc. is a Canadian junior explorer advancing the Candelones gold project in the Dominican Republic. The project comprises an Oxide deposit, for which a feasibility study is complete, showing a 44% IRR at $1,650/oz, and a Sulphide deposit with a resource updated to 2.29M oz M&I in Aug 2026. The company holds the Neita Norte and Neita Sur concessions, with Neita Norte featuring an earn-in agreement with Barrick Gold. Operations are currently in the permitting and pre-development stage, with field work suspended pending final government approvals.
