South Pacific Metals Returns up to 12.8% Copper from Outcrop Outside the Kili Teke Resource; Massive Sulphide Traced over 200 Metres
South Pacific’s Kili Teke outcrop assays validate district-scale porphyry potential beyond the 4.2 moz AuEq resource.

South Pacific Metals Corp. (SPMC) has released the first assay results from its initial exploration program at the Kili Teke Copper-Gold Project in Papua New Guinea. This announcement follows the July 29 disclosure that the company had dispatched its first rock samples for analysis after commencing field work at the site.
A massive sulphide unit has been mapped over 200 meters along a north-south fault contact on the western margin of the Central Porphyry, located outside the current NI 43-101 Inferred Mineral Resource boundary. Outcrop sample E50301 returned 12.80% Cu, 0.30 g/t Au, and 104 g/t Ag. Additional rock chip samples returned up to 1.84% Cu and 0.76 g/t Au. Historic trench validation confirmed 132 m at 0.55% Cu and 0.6 g/t Au.
The Ridge Gold target shows a strong gold-in-soil anomaly (up to 9.39 g/t Au) with tellurium overprints, indicating a potential Porgera-style alkalic epithermal target. The company has defined two priority target areas (Ieru-Yalopi and Ridge Gold-Kwaki) for future drilling, with drill-ready targets expected by the end of October 2026 ahead of a maiden diamond drill program.
South Pacific Metals Corp. (SPMC) released results that serve as a logical follow-up to its June and July exploration commencement updates, validating the company's geological model that Kili Teke hosts a broader porphyry/epithermal complex beyond the single Central Main Porphyry resource. While the high-grade copper-gold outcrop results are geologically encouraging, they represent surface sampling only. Without drill confirmation, these results carry standard exploration risk and do not immediately translate to resource expansion or financial value.
The news is incremental and aligns with management's stated exploration roadmap. It does not contain genuinely new, unexpected, or market-moving information that would fundamentally alter the company's valuation or risk profile. The absence of diamond drill results means the true width, continuity, and depth of the mineralization remain unverified.
South Pacific Metals Corp. is a pre-revenue junior explorer advancing four gold-copper projects in Papua New Guinea: Osena (Ontenu NE, Central, Megabe), Kili Teke, Anga, and May River.
The company’s flagship Kili Teke project hosts a NI 43-101 Inferred Mineral Resource of 237 Mt grading 0.34% Cu and 0.24 g/t Au, equating to approximately 4.2 moz AuEq. This resource is confined to the Central Main Porphyry, leaving the Ieru Porphyry, Ridge Gold, and Skarn Corridor largely untested.
At the Osena Project, specifically the Ontenu NE area, drilling is currently targeting high-grade epithermal Au-Cu intercepts, such as 12m @ 3.1 g/t Au at Megabe.
Management includes Executive Chairman Michael Murphy, founder of Torex Gold, and CEO Timo Jauristo. The company operates in Papua New Guinea, a jurisdiction that presents high exploration potential but carries elevated political, civil, and community relations risks.
