Focus Graphite Inc. (FMS) has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding with Charge CCCV LLC (C4V) to evaluate an integrated "Mine-to-Anode" pathway. The collaboration aims to combine Lac Knife's high-purity natural graphite concentrate, which contains up to 98.7% carbon, with C4V's proprietary Green Anode Technology to produce coated spherical purified graphite (cSPG) for battery applications.
The initiative supports Focus's strategic shift from resource development into downstream processing and advanced materials, potentially leading to technology licensing, offtake agreements, and strategic partnerships. Graphite fines and other streams from anode production will be evaluated as conductive additives for Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries. The evaluation program examines processing performance, product consistency, and electrochemical characteristics to determine commercial viability.
Parallel initiatives include a $14.1 million non-repayable funding agreement with Natural Resources Canada for an electrothermal graphite purification process.
