Perseus Updates Mineral Resources and Ore Reserve Estimates

Perseus expands reserves by 40%, a growth narrative the market has already priced into the stock price.

Executive Summary

Perseus Mining Limited updated its Mineral Resources and Ore Reserve estimates as of June 30, 2026. Measured and Indicated Mineral Resources increased by 37% to 10.6 moz gold, comprising 270.3 Mt at 1.22 g/t Au. Proved and Probable Ore Reserves rose by 40% to 7.0 moz gold, representing 175.2 Mt at 1.24 g/t Au.

Growth in the resource base was driven by the Yaouré project, which saw a 15% increase to 1,661 koz, and the Nyanzaga project, which grew by 75% to 4,109 koz. Inferred Resources total 2.5 moz gold, consisting of 57.5 Mt at 1.4 g/t Au. Gold price assumptions for the estimates were set at $3,300/oz for open pit resources and $2,700/oz for Nyanzaga.

The Meyas Sand Gold Project in Sudan was removed from reporting following its divestment in March 2026. The estimates were prepared in accordance with JORC 2012 and NI 43-101 standards by internal competent persons.

Material Impact

Perseus Mining Limited (PRU) released a standard portfolio reserve and resource update rather than an earnings report. The company announced a 40% expansion in reserves, a development that materially extends mine life and supports its FY27 production guide of 420,000 to 480,000 ounces.

The market had already priced in significant growth ahead of this announcement. The stock rallied approximately 29%, rising from $4.74 on July 29 to $6.11 on August 25. This price movement reflected prior reserve expansions at Nyanzaga, the divestment of Sudan assets, and strong fourth-quarter cash flow.

Company Overview

Perseus Mining Limited is an Australian-listed gold producer operating in West and East Africa. Its flagship assets include the Yaouré and Sissingué mines in Côte d'Ivoire, the Edikan mine in Ghana, and the Nyanzaga project in Tanzania.

In March 2026, the company sold a 70% interest in the Meyas Sand Gold Project in Sudan for $260 million, a decision driven by development delays related to conflict. Concurrently, Perseus acquired a 9.9% stake in Aurum Resources for $23.7 million, securing exposure to the Boundiali gold project adjacent to its Sissingué operation. All resource estimates are prepared in accordance with JORC 2012 and NI 43-101 standards.
