Ecuador's Mining Reset Is Opening Doors. Salazar Resources Is Walking Through All of Them
Salazar’s Ecuador fee exemptions and El Domo NPV upgrade boost its portfolio despite the capital-intensive nature of its exploration stage.

Salazar Resources Limited confirmed a 1.5 km by 0.5 km copper-gold porphyry mineralized footprint at its 100%-owned Monja Project. The company reported that 64% of rock samples returned greater than 300 ppm copper, with top results reaching 1.71% Cu, 0.99 g/t Au, and 162 ppm Mo. Soil sampling and geological mapping support lateral extension into approximately 180,000 square meters and confirm the structural continuity of a porphyry system.
The company also reiterated the NI 43-101 technical report update for its 25% carried interest in the El Domo mine. This update confirmed an after-tax net present value (8%) of US$573 million, representing a 121% increase from October 2021. The report also noted a 10% reserve expansion and a 1.5-year mine life extension.
In regulatory developments, Ecuador’s mining regulator issued Resolution No. ARCOM-006/26, exempting exploration-stage companies from the Mining Oversight and Control Fee and waiving the 2026 fiscal year charge. Additionally, Canada and Ecuador signed a comprehensive free trade agreement formalizing investment protections and tariff reductions.
Additional portfolio updates highlighted a 650m by 500m gold-bearing barite horizon at El Tigre and high-grade epithermal vein results at Tarqui-Quimi.
Salazar Resources Limited (SRL) released an update on August 4, reiterating figures previously announced on July 15, 2026, regarding the El Domo NPV upgrade and reserve expansion. The release confirms that economic study assumptions and the construction timeline, set for July 1, 2027, remain on track.
Results from the Monja Project are positive, validating the company’s earlier identification of a porphyry system in April 2026. However, these findings remain in the early exploration and surface sampling phase and are incremental to prior announcements rather than constituting a new discovery.
The update also highlights a regulatory fee exemption and the Canada-Ecuador Free Trade Agreement as positive jurisdictional developments. These measures are expected to reduce near-term operating costs for exploration-stage assets and improve the investment climate, aligning with the company’s prior advocacy efforts.
Overall, the release serves as a follow-up consolidation of previously disclosed economic and exploration updates, reinforcing management’s execution and the project pipeline without introducing fundamentally new or unexpected catalysts.
