Sage Potash Kicks off Drilling After Completing Rig Set-Up

Sage Potash Corp. has initiated drilling at its Sage Plain Potash Project in the Paradox Basin, Utah, following the completion of site preparation in late June 2026. Drake Well Service Inc. commenced operations on July 8, 2026, with an anticipated 20-day timeline to reach the Cycle 18 potash horizon at approximately 2,100 meters depth. The program focuses on continuous core recovery for laboratory assays to upgrade resource estimates, alongside geo-mechanical analysis for mine design and hydrogeological testing to assess water supply potential for future solution mining. CEO Pat Varas highlighted the milestone as the culmination of months of planning, emphasizing the project's role in advancing toward engineering and development phases.

Sage Potash Corp. (SAGE) has confirmed the commencement of its 2026 drilling program, proceeding exactly as previously announced and permitted. The execution remains on schedule relative to the June 18 permit approvals and the June 24 site preparation updates. There are no new surprises, deviations, or material changes to the project timeline or technical objectives. The announcement represents an incremental and expected operational step toward the anticipated Q3 2026 updated resource estimate.

Sage Potash Corp. is developing the Sage Plain Potash Project in San Juan County, Utah, within the Paradox Basin. The company’s flagship initiative targets solution mining of high-grade potash from the Cycle 18 Upper and Lower beds.

A Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) filed in September 2025 outlines a 300,000 tonnes per year plant with an unlevered after-tax NPV of US$502 million and an IRR of 39%. The project’s inferred mineral resource stands at 298 million tonnes of sylvinite, containing approximately 118 million tonnes of KCl.

The project benefits from potash's designation as a critical mineral in the United States, supporting domestic supply chain security and potential government funding.
