Magna Mining Achieves Record Quarterly Tonnage at McCreedy West Mine in Sudbury and Provides Q2 Operational Update

Magna Mining Inc. (NICU) has announced a new record for quarterly ore tonnage shipped at its McCreedy West Mine during the second quarter of 2026, surpassing previous benchmarks under company ownership. As of June 26, 2026, the company shipped 91,724 short tons of ore from the 700 Copper Zone to Vale Base Metals’ Clarabelle mill. This volume exceeds the previous Q2 2025 record of 70,090 tons and the Q4 2025 record of 84,953 tons, representing an 11.5% increase over the 82,296 tons shipped in Q1 2026.
Ore shipped during April and May totaled 66,445 tons, averaging 3.55% CuEq. Specific grades for this period included 1.60% Copper, 0.28% Nickel, 0.94 g/t Platinum, 0.99 g/t Palladium, 0.46 g/t Gold, and 14.20 g/t Silver. The company anticipates the Q2 average grade to be near the upper end of its 2026 guidance range of 3.2-3.5% CuEq.
Operational efficiency was further demonstrated by underground development that exceeded 2,350 feet during the quarter, with approximately 2,340 feet recorded by June 26. This sets a new record under Magna ownership, breaking the previous Q1 2026 record of 2,252 feet. The company also reported a perfect safety record, achieving a Total Reportable Injury Frequency Rate (TRIFR) of 0.0 for over a year without a reportable injury.
In a strategic move to support future projects, Magna acquired significant used underground equipment from a nearby operation that is moving into closure. The acquisition, which included scoop trams, bolters, personnel carriers, substations, pumps, and other inventory, cost approximately $1 million, a figure well below market rates. This equipment is expected to be repurposed for the Levack Mine and other Sudbury Basin projects, projecting potential savings of $9-12 million. The assets will be incorporated into the Levack Mine Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA), which is expected to be completed in Q3 2026.
Jeff Huffman, COO of Magna, highlighted these operational milestones. “Our team at Magna has made several significant achievements during Q2, both operationally at McCreedy West as well as at our various development projects in the Sudbury Basin,” Huffman said. “In addition to achieving record quarterly tonnage shipped at McCreedy West, we anticipate the average grade during the quarter to be near the upper end of our 2026 annual guidance and we have also set a record in terms of underground development during the quarter which will help support production rates in the second half of 2026. Most importantly, we are now over one year of operations at McCreedy West without a reportable injury, an impressive achievement by the team which speaks to our strong safety culture.”
Magna Mining Inc. will release its Q2 2026 Financial and Operating Results after market close on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. A conference call and webcast are scheduled for Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 8:00 am EDT.
