Nine Mile Metals confirms VMS zones at Wedge project

NINE · Price

Executive Summary

  • Nine Mile Metals completed the first drill hole (DDH-WD-25-01) of its Wedge Western extension program, confirming two distinct zones of Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide (VMS) mineralization.
  • The first hole intersected approximately 22.40 meters of true width of massive copper-bearing sulphides in the first target plate, with a second sulphide zone identified in the second target plate.
  • Drilling has commenced on the second hole (DDH-WD-25-02), which is designed to extend the mineralized zone along strike approximately 40 meters further west.

Key Details

  • Drill Hole DDH-WD-25-01:
    • Collared along the southern flank of the Wedge Mine.
    • Drilled at an azimuth of 335 degrees with a dip of negative 50 degrees.
    • Targeted two modelled plates in the western extension.
    • Intersected Zone 1: Approximately 22.40 metres (true width) of massive copper-bearing sulphides (VMS: Cu-Pb-Zn-Ag-Au).
    • Intersected Zone 2: A second sulphide zone in target plate 2 (currently being logged, measured, photographed, and cut for sampling).
    • Sampling: 65 sample sections identified for base and precious metals analysis (including antimony) by Actlabs, Fredericton, N.B.
    • Methodology: Visible VMS sulphides allowed the company to bypass time-consuming XRF analysis to expedite samples to the lab and prevent crew backlog.
    • Core Handling: All core measured, logged, photographed, marked, and cut for sampling at the company's warehouse in Bathurst, N.B.
  • Drill Hole DDH-WD-25-02:
    • Collared on the same drill pad as WD-25-01.
    • Drilled at an azimuth of 310 degrees and a dip of negative 50 degrees.
    • Objective: Intersect the first plate approximately 40 metres farther west to extend the mineralized zone along strike.
  • Technical Team: Work conducted with assistance from Apex Geoscience for advisory and drill program design.

Notable Quotes

  • Gary Lohman, Vice-President of Exploration: "We are very pleased with the VMS sulphide mineralization intersects from our first drill hole, WD-25-01. The mineralization was intersected where projected and throughout its width, it is massive and looks non-descript as seen in the images above, however, upon close examination, chalcopyrite (Cu) is seen as very fine disseminations within a matrix of pyrite."
  • Patrick J. Cruickshank, CEO: "The team is working diligently and efficiently to process the core as quickly as possible... We are happy to deliver this update and will provide an update on hole WD-25-02 as soon as possible."
