Endeavour Reports Access Ramp Subsidence at the Mana Mine

Endeavour halts Mana underground operations while maintaining its full-year production and cost guidance targets.

Executive Summary

Endeavour Mining plc (EDV) reported that on 28 October 2026, the access ramp leading to the depleted Wona open pit at the Mana mine in Burkina Faso partially subsided. No injuries were reported, and underground workers were evacuated while local authorities were notified.

Access to the Dangouna and Aviera underground portals is now restricted, and underground mining activities at all three active underground portals at Mana have been suspended pending geotechnical analysis and remediation assessment. The Wona portal remains accessible, and Endeavour is evaluating restarting and accelerating mining there, plus other near-mine open pits, to mitigate the impact on Mana production.

The company reaffirmed FY-2026 group production and AISC guidance but provided no quantified production, cost, or restart-timing impact. A detailed update on the geotechnical analysis and remediation plan is scheduled with Q3-2026 results on 12 November 2026.

Material Impact

Endeavour Mining plc (EDV) has suspended all underground mining operations at its Mana mine, a move that affects the entire site rather than being limited to a single portal. Mana contributed 173 koz of production in FY-2025, representing approximately 14.3% of the group’s total output. The mine was already facing high costs and had fallen below its FY-2026 guidance prior to this incident.

The company’s release provided no specific details regarding ounces at risk, cost impacts, remediation capital expenditure, or a restart date. Maintaining group guidance will depend on an unquantified combination of a restart at Wona, production from near-mine open pits, and performance at other sites. This uncertainty leaves room for mine-level guidance to deteriorate further while the group-level line is maintained.

Investor sentiment was already cautious ahead of the announcement, with the stock falling from C$90.13 on 22 September 2026 to C$69.71 on 30 October 2026, a decline of 22.7%. The release introduces additional geotechnical and safety risks specific to the mine on top of this existing market weakness. The suspension of underground production at an already underperforming asset undermines confidence in the credibility of the reaffirmed group guidance until the Q3 update quantifies the impact.
