Barksdale Commences Updated PEA for San Javier Copper-Gold Project, Adding Gold for the First Time and Current Consensus Metal Pricing
Barksdale’s San Javier PEA update outlines gold economics and secures funding for 2027 drilling at the project.

Barksdale Resources Corp. (BRO) has officially commenced an update to the Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) for its 100%-owned San Javier copper-gold project in Sonora, Mexico. The updated study will incorporate gold recovery economics, updated consensus metal pricing, and new metallurgical test work, factors that were excluded from the January 2024 PEA.
The company has already received assay results from 2007 drill core rejects, identifying significant high-grade gold intervals, including 9.0 metres of 3.464 g/t Au. Completion of the PEA update is targeted for the fourth quarter of 2027.
This announcement follows the October 8, 2026 closing of a C$13.2 million private placement and the settlement of outstanding convertible debentures, alongside recent management and board appointments.
Barksdale Resources Corp. (BRO) is executing the exploration and economic evaluation plan previously announced in July 2026. The inclusion of gold in the San Javier Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) represents an expected incremental step. The 2024 PEA already identified conceptual gold mineralization ranging from 250,000 to 400,000 ounces, though it attributed no value to that resource.
Recent financing of C$13.2 million and a debt settlement have provided the necessary capital to fund the 2027 drilling program and the PEA update, removing immediate liquidity constraints. No immediate material impact on valuation or stock price is expected until the Q4 2027 PEA results are released. The market is likely to view this development as a procedural milestone rather than a catalyst.
Barksdale Resources Corp. (BRO) is a pre-revenue junior explorer focused on copper and gold projects in Arizona and Mexico. The company’s flagship asset is the Sunnyside Project in the Patagonia District of Arizona, in which it holds a 67.5% interest. This asset features a confirmed copper-molybdenum porphyry system characterized by broad intervals, such as 109.7m @ 0.32% Cu, and remains open to depth and strike.
In Mexico, Barksdale owns the San Javier Project in Sonora on a 100% basis. The site hosts an iron oxide copper-gold (IOCG) deposit. A 2024 Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) outlined a resource of 419 million pounds of copper, with a post-tax NPV7% of $61.6 million and an internal rate of return (IRR) of 18.1%. The company is now incorporating gold economics into the project's evaluation.
The company’s portfolio also includes early-stage exploration assets at Canelo, Goat Canyon, San Antonio, Four Metals, and Guajolote.
