Monumental Energy Discusses the Onshore Mauku Block Target Inside the Tirua Point Acreage
Monumental’s Tirua Point permit update highlights two gas-condensate prospects in New Zealand’s Taranaki Basin.

Monumental Energy Corp. (MNRG) announced the completion of data reinterpretation for the Tirua Petroleum Exploration Permit (PEP 61554) in New Zealand. The review identified two primary gas condensate prospects: Mauku NE, which holds a recoverable resource of 200 Pj at a shallow depth of 2000 meters, and Mangatoa, a deeper prospect in the mid-Cretaceous Taniwha Formation containing over 1000 Pj.
The company is finalizing an ownership structure for the project, under which Monumental will hold 60%, 3TCF will hold 30%, and New Zealand Energy Corp. (NZEC) will hold 10%.
In corporate developments, Monumental has engaged Darkstar Capital and VTV Corporate Services for investor relations and granted stock options for up to 727,453 shares at $0.10. CEO commentary highlighted that New Zealand gas prices have spiked to $20.55 NZ/MCF ($11.50 USD) due to supply shortages, a market condition the company says positions it to bring new investment to the area.
The release follows the August 18, 2026 announcement that the Tirua Point application was accepted by NZPAM. It provides technical depth on the prospects but does not change the fundamental risk profile or timeline for commercialization. The JV structure (60/30/10) aligns with previous disclosures. The engagement of IR firms and stock options are routine corporate housekeeping. No immediate capital raise or production milestone is tied to this specific update. The impact is incremental and expected by the market.
Monumental Energy Corp. (MNRG) has shifted its operational focus from mineral exploration to oil and gas workover, development, and royalty investments within New Zealand’s Taranaki Basin. The company’s flagship assets include the Ngaere, Waihapa, and Copper Moki wells, which have recently commenced production or are currently undergoing workovers.
In addition to these producing assets, Monumental Energy holds exploration permits for the Maata, Beaconsfield, and Kupe Gas Field properties, as well as the newly acquired Tirua Point. The company’s strategy centers on capital-efficient workovers to generate near-term cash flow while simultaneously pursuing longer-term gas development opportunities.
