DLP Receives Drill Permits at Esperanza; First-Ever Drill Program to Commence September 18, 2026
DLP’s maiden drilling at Esperanza advances while Aurora PEA dilutes near-term catalysts.

DLP Resources Inc. has secured all necessary regulatory permits to commence its maiden diamond drill program at the 100%-owned Esperanza copper-gold-molybdenum project in southern Peru. The drill rig mobilizes immediately, with the first hole expected to be collared on September 18, 2026. This marks the first time the 22,500-hectare property has ever been drilled.
The program consists of approximately 3,000 meters across seven holes designed to test two distinct targets: a near-surface copper oxide zone defined by high-grade trenching and a main porphyry copper-gold-molybdenum target beneath a large magnetic anomaly. Previous trench results at the oxide zone include 54 meters of 1.53% Cu and 86 meters of 0.73% Cu. Surface geochemistry supports the porphyry target with high-grade vein samples up to 550 g/t Ag, 4.548% Cu, and 7.795 g/t Au.
The project is located ~35 km southwest of Freeport-McMoRan's Cerro Verde mine and immediately south of the Chapi copper mine.
DLP Resources Inc. (DLP) has commenced drilling at its Aurora project, a development widely anticipated following surface sampling and geophysical updates in July and August 2026, as well as the Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) released on September 1. The company’s permit approval marks a standard administrative milestone preceding expected assay results, confirming operational progress without introducing new financial data, discovery results, or strategic shifts.
The market had already priced in a Q3 2026 drilling start, and the company’s guidance remains unchanged. The PEA, released one week prior, outlines a $2.7 billion NPV project; however, it covers only approximately 30% of the mineral resource and relies on long-term development timelines. The Esperanza drilling represents an early-stage exploration step that will not immediately impact near-term cash flows or valuations.
DLP Resources Inc. (DLP) is an exploration-stage junior focused on copper-molybdenum-silver projects in Peru and British Columbia. The company’s Aurora Project is 100%-owned and spans 12,500 hectares. A pre-feasibility study (PEA) has been completed for the asset, outlining a 17.5-year mine life with a base case after-tax NPV8% of $2,703 million and an internal rate of return (IRR) of 18.5%. The project targets 90.5 million lbs of copper annually. The PEA covers only approximately 30% of the Indicated and Inferred resource, preserving significant underground expansion optionality.
The company also holds the 100%-owned Esperanza Project, which comprises 22,500 hectares. Currently in the exploration stage, the asset has recently advanced from surface sampling and geophysics to maiden drilling. It is located in a prolific copper belt near major producers. DLP Resources Inc. is led by CEO Ian Gendall, a seasoned explorer with a track record of porphyry discoveries.
