Aurania Commences Drill Program at Thor's Valley Gold Project in Iceland

Aurania has commenced drilling at Iceland’s Thor’s Valley project as capital requirements present a significant financial challenge for the company.

Executive Summary

Aurania Resources Ltd. has initiated a diamond drilling program at its Thormodsdalur (Thor's Valley) gold project in Iceland. The company has contracted Arctic Drilling Company Oy Ltd. to drill six holes totaling approximately 770 metres. Five of these holes are designated as twin holes intended to re-test historical high-grade intercepts using modern QA/QC protocols. The sixth hole will test a new surface target where rock-chip samples have returned up to 102 ppm gold.

The project is a low-sulphidation epithermal gold-silver system that has historically reported grades up to 415.40 g/t Au. Management envisions a potential "direct-shipping" siliceous ore model similar to the Hishikari Gold Mine in Japan, which would eliminate the need for tailings containment or milling. This drilling follows the closing of a definitive option agreement with St-Georges Eco-Mining Corp in May 2026, under which Aurania must commit US$5 million in exploration expenditures over four years to earn a 70% interest.

Material Impact

Aurania Resources Ltd. (ARU) has commenced drilling, a move that aligns with the phased exploration strategy outlined in the May 2026 option agreement and the June 2026 private placement financing. The company did not provide assay results in this release. Consequently, the immediate financial and valuation impact is neutral, as the market has already priced in the progression toward drilling following the financing and option closing. The strategic vision of direct-shipping ore remains speculative at this stage, relying on successful metallurgical testing and resource definition, which are years away.

Company Overview

Aurania Resources Ltd. is a mineral exploration company focused on "micromines" and legacy waste reprocessing, alongside high-grade epithermal gold projects. The company’s strategy involves bypassing traditional mining by reprocessing existing waste deposits or developing small-scale, direct-shipping ore bodies to minimize capex and environmental footprint.

Its flagship projects include Thor's Valley in Iceland, a low-sulphidation epithermal gold system covering approximately 51,300 hectares. Historical drilling at the site has returned grades up to 415 g/t Au, and the project is currently in the early exploration phase. In Italy, the Balangero project is a tailings retreatment initiative targeting nickel-cobalt awaruite from historic asbestos mine waste. The site contains approximately 153 million tonnes of dry-stacked tailings, and a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) is underway. Additionally, Aurania holds three exploration licenses in Brittany, France, covering approximately 800 km². These permits target polymetallic strategic metals including gold, antimony, tungsten, tin, zinc, and copper.
