Endeavour Silver Reports an Illegal Blockade and Suspension of Operations at its Terronera Mine
Endeavour’s Core Terronera halt interrupts planned H2 grade and LNG ramp-up, stalling anticipated production increases at the project.

Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR) has temporarily suspended operations at its Terronera mine in Jalisco, Mexico, effective August 12, 2026. The suspension follows an illegal blockade by members of the nearby Ejido community. The community’s grievances include demands for road maintenance, medical services, communications, control and access to the water supply, and increased financial assistance.
Endeavour describes the blockade as peaceful, orderly, and respectful. The site remains staffed with a reduced workforce to maintain safety, security, and maintenance, and the facility remains accessible for these activities. The company stated it is in active discussions with Ejido community leaders and will pursue legal remedies if the matter is prolonged. No duration, production impact, cost impact, or resumption timeline was provided.
Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR) faces a significant operational setback as its Terronera mine, a core producing asset and primary gold contributor, has been suspended. The timing is particularly unfavorable, as management had previously guided for higher grades and liquefied natural gas cost benefits in the second half of 2026.
The suspension removes a substantial portion of the company’s output. In the second quarter of 2026, Terronera produced 608,347 oz of silver and 7,666 oz of gold, implying a monthly run-rate of roughly 203,000 oz of silver and 2,600 oz of gold. The mine also represented approximately 1.3 million oz of AgEq in consolidated Q2 production. For the full year, 2026 guidance assigns Terronera 2.4–2.6 million oz of silver, representing roughly 29% of consolidated silver guidance, and 35,000–36,000 oz of gold, or roughly 75% of consolidated gold guidance.
The market had not priced in a potential stoppage, with Endeavour Silver’s share price rallying from $10.63 on July 29, prior to Q2 results, to $14.76 by August 14, a gain of about 39%.
Mitigating factors include the peaceful nature of the blockade, which allows for reduced workforce access for maintenance, as well as active talks with stakeholders. The company also maintains a strong balance sheet with $236.6 million in cash and $214.4 million in working capital. However, because the duration and production impact remain unresolved, the situation represents a material negative until quantified.
Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR) is a mid-tier silver producer operating three mines: Terronera in Jalisco, Mexico; Guanaceví in Durango, Mexico; and Kolpa in Peru. Terronera began commercial production effective October 1, 2025, while Kolpa was acquired on May 1, 2025. The company also holds advanced and exploration assets including Pitarrilla and Parral in Mexico, Bruner in Nevada, and Aida.
The transaction to sell the Bolañitos asset closed on January 15, 2026. Prior to this sale, the company’s 2026 consolidated guidance projected production of 8.3–8.9 million ounces of silver, 46–48,000 ounces of gold, and 14.6–15.6 million silver-equivalent ounces. The guidance also included cash costs of $12–13 per ounce and all-in sustaining costs (AISC) of $27–28 per ounce.
