Falcon Energy Materials PLC Opens Its Pilot Plant In Morocco
Falcon opens its Morocco pilot plant, marking a transition to operational execution as CSPG samples are prepared for processing.

Falcon Energy Materials PLC announced the official opening of its pilot plant near Casablanca, Morocco, on July 9, 2026. The fully assembled and pre-commissioned processing line, which has been relocated from China, is now undergoing commissioning. The facility is designed to produce qualification-scale coated spheronized purified graphite (CSPG) samples from African natural graphite feedstock, with the first samples expected in the summer of 2026.
The pilot plant serves as a critical scale-up step, intended to generate operating data, train staff, and support customer qualification programs for the proposed 25,000 tpa commercial anode plant. CEO Matthieu Bos described the opening as a transition from planning to operational execution and a step toward establishing a non-China battery supply chain.
Falcon Energy Materials PLC (FLCN) has confirmed the opening of its pilot plant, a milestone that aligns with previous guidance and was widely anticipated. The company had previously indicated in October and November 2025 that the facility was on track for completion in the fourth quarter of 2025, with first CSPG samples expected during that period. Subsequent statements included in the Q1 2026 Management’s Discussion and Analysis, filed with Q1 2026 financials, targeted commissioning for mid-June 2026. The current announcement confirms the opening occurred a few weeks after that target, with no mention of delays.
The announcement does not include new financials, offtake agreements, or changes to the timeline for the commercial plant. Falcon Energy Materials PLC shares traded in the range of $0.80 to $0.81 in the days surrounding the release.
Falcon Energy Materials PLC (FLCN) is a development-stage company focused on producing coated spheronized purified graphite (CSPG) for lithium-ion battery anodes. Its flagship project is the Morocco Anode Plant in Jorf Lasfar, a 26 ktpa CSPG facility that also produces 19 ktpa of fines. The project carries an AACE Class 3 capital cost estimate of US$86 million and an all-in operating cost of US$3,168 per tonne. First production is targeted for the second half of 2027.
The company previously held the Lola graphite project in Guinea, but its exploitation licence was revoked in May 2025. Falcon has initiated a US$100 million ICSID arbitration claim against Guinea for expropriation. The current strategy centers entirely on the Morocco processing plant, which sources graphite concentrate from third-party African producers.
