Power Metallic extends Lion zones with sulphide hits

Executive Summary

  • Power Metallic Mines Inc. released an exploration update detailing significant drilling results from its fall 2025 program, highlighting new structural trends and high-grade intercepts at the Lion, Lion East, Lion West, and Hinge areas.
  • The company identified a shallow easterly plunge controlling high-grade zones within the Lion zone, with holes PML-26-054 and PML-26-067 intersecting massive and disseminated copper sulphides, extending the known mineralization eastward.
  • Regional drilling in the Hinge area discovered a new gold zone with high-grade intersections (up to 34.6 g/t Au over 1.50 m) and confirmed Ni-Cu potential, while other zones showed VMS-style signatures or failed to intersect prospective targets.

Key Details

  • Lion East & West Structural Trends:
    • Structural analysis identified a shallow easterly plunge controlling highest-grade zones in the Lion zone; four easterly trending structures identified.
    • Hole PML-26-054: Intersected 5 metres of Lion style mineralization with visible copper in narrow massive lenses and disseminated/stringer style chalcopyrite.
    • Hole PML-26-067: Drilled on the western edge of Lion along the easterly trend at ~50m vertical depth; intersected 1 metre of massive copper sulphides and 3.3 metres of disseminated copper mineralization.
    • Alignment with mineralization in hole PML-25-021 (350m east of Lion) suggests potential for hundreds of metres of strike along the trend.
    • Three additional easterly plunging trends below the shallowest identified remain untested.
  • Lion West (UM Zone):
    • Hole PML-25-040: Collared in UM, offset from Lion zone stratigraphy. Hit mineralization over 0.31 metre consisting of massive nickeliferous sulphides: 2.42% Ni, 1.83 g/t Pd, 0.11% Cu within a tonalite dike.
    • Follow-up drilling moved north to intersect Lion stratigraphy structurally above the UM.
  • Regional Drilling (Summer-Fall 2025) - Hinge/Hydro lands Zone:
    • Hole PMX-25-016: Intersected a broadly anomalous gold zone in a felsic-intermediate volcanic unit: 33 metres of low anomalous gold, including a high-grade intersection of 34.6 g/t Au over 1.50 m (from 273.5 m to 275.0 m) containing visible gold stringers.
    • Hole PMX-25-015: Intersected local polymetallic mineralization including Pd (up to 0.10 g/t) and Pt (0.11 g/t).
    • Hole PMX-25-001: Intersected Au (0.36 g/t) in high Mg rocks.
    • All holes in this zone intersected highly anomalous arsenic and tungsten, considered pathfinders to Sudbury-style mineralization.
    • Deep hole PML-25-021X intersected the same volcanic unit ~600m below PMX-25-016; assay results pending.
  • Other Regional Zones:
    • Zone 2 (Nisk Far West): Failed to intersect prospective rock types or anomalous mineralization.
    • Zone 3 (South Basin Margin West): Six holes hit significant sulphides with VMS signature (Zn, Ag, Pd, Cu). UM rocks intersected (e.g., 11m in PMX-25-008) but contained no significant Ni-Cu-PGE anomalism.
    • Zone 4 (Centre Basin Tonalite): Sulphide mineralization supports VMS style; no significant UM rocks.
    • Zone 5 (South Basin Margin East): Three holes covered ~5km strike; sulphides suggest VMS style with anomalous Zn, Cu, Ag.
  • Deep BHEM Targets:
    • Elephant: Intersected pyrrhotite without Ni-Cu affinity; contact zone stratigraphy identified but no UM found. Assay results pending.
    • Tiger Deep: First hole collared between BHEM conductors; no visual mineralization but encouraging geology. Follow-up drilling targeting refined plate. Assay results pending.
  • Company Land Position:
    • Controls approximately 330 square kilometres (approx. 50 km of prospective basin margins).
    • Only 16 holes drilled to date across a 40km x 10km area.

Notable Quotes

  • "The verification of this plunge trend, while expanding the Lion target area, also is acting as a vector direction towards a potential large Ni-Cu deposit that is the source for the mobilized copper mineralization, giving the geologists a new focus for this long-term exploration target," states Joe Campbell, vice-president of exploration for Power Metallic.
