Hybrid Power to release modular, portable Solar Tarp
Mr. Francois Byrne reports
HYBRID POWER SOLUTIONS UNVEILS REVOLUTIONARY SOLAR TARP
Hybrid Power Solutions Inc. is developing and will launch its innovative Solar Tarp, a custom-designed, modular solar power solution tailored for construction, military, emergency response and remote locations. Engineered to fit common surfaces like trailers and shipping containers, the patent-pending Solar Tarp offers versatile installation options for fences, ground set-ups, cranes and other equipment. With user-friendly features such as grommets and a modular design, it enables quick setup and seamless array configurations, adapting to diverse project needs.
The Solar Tarp will be showcased at GCXpo, Canada's premier next-gen technology demo event, on Sept. 24, 2025. Hybrid is currently accepting orders with latest generation units to be delivered in Q1 2026.

"The Solar Tarp represents a game-changer for the construction industry, delivering clean, reliable power in a flexible and cost-effective package," said Francois Byrne, chief executive officer and founder of Hybrid Power Solutions. "By offsetting rental costs with significant power savings, this product empowers our clients to reduce their environmental footprint while meeting project demands."
After an extensive review of advanced solar technologies, Hybrid Power Solutions selected copper indium gallium selenide panels for their lightweight, flexible and highly durable properties. These panels were chosen to create a large-format solar tarp capable of covering extensive areas efficiently while withstanding the rigors of demanding environments. By partnering with top-tier manufacturers, Hybrid Power Solutions rigorously tested samples for electrical and mechanical performance, selecting the best-performing option to ensure reliability and efficiency.
The initial panels measured 20 by four foot to ensure maximum compatibility with construction site office trailers and intermodal containers as they are multiples of 20 ft long and eight ft wide. Panels can be seamed together to create a much larger array and do not require any specialized hardware to be fastened to a variety of surfaces. Each tested solar panel output 900 to 1000 watts. The latest design has been changed to 10 by four ft to reduce the overall weight of each panel to ensure it can be safely carried with ease.
To validate its performance, Hybrid Power Solutions conducted comprehensive in-house testing followed by a long-term field demonstration with a confidential construction client at a site spanning the Mississippi River. The real-world deployment provided critical feedback, confirming the tarp's durability and energy efficiency under challenging conditions.
Looking ahead, Hybrid Power Solutions is developing additional support structures to expand installation possibilities beyond traditional roof setups, further enhancing the tarp's versatility.
